Brown postgame quotes

Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…

(on winning with a shorthanded roster…)
BROWN: “Obviously we had some guys coming in, playing some big minutes, that maybe aren’t there normally. I thought Elkins played pretty physical, pretty solid, for his first game in the NHL. You’ve got everyone pitching in, and I thought our system play was really good tonight. It makes things a lot easier for us.”

(on losing Jack Johnson in the third period…)
BROWN: “When you lose a player, the players in here don’t really think about it. We had one period to play, 20 minutes, and everyone had to pull a little extra weight. Fortunately, we had Whiskey [Drewiske] playing forward, so it worked out well for us.”

(on him sliding into the boards hard after his goal…)
BROWN: “It just knocked the wind out of me pretty quickly. I was trying to spin so I could stop, and I didn’t make it in time, so I just knocked the wind out of myself,

(on holding on to win…)
BROWN: “Quicker made some big saves for us. They had some pretty good scoring chances, but at the same time I think we played a pretty good game. We got the puck deep. We didn’t have many turnovers. I think the one turnover we had, they ended up scoring on in the third period, so it was a mix of us playing a good game, and they worked hard and got a couple chances.”

some might bash TM for playing with 7 D-men, but it has really saved our rears a couple of times.

The Amazing Kreskin Would Be Proud Of What We Are Doing With This Talent.

I Think The Kings Can Headline In Vegas (They Are That Good)

I certainly would not want the job as KINGS GOALIE. This guy QUICK is ridiculous. No other goalie in this league see more quality scoring opportunities ever. Our boys let the opposing teams walk in and fire from close range almost 75% of the time. I love watching this guys expressions after the barrage of shots come his way.

His face was “WTF” all our guys are going for a change NOW! 5 on 1…I’m good but not that good…Thanks TM

The real face of “WTF” was O’Sullivan at the end of the bench wondering why he didn’t get a shift in the 3rd.

    And where is Anthony?

@Im just saying, yeh, I have a problem with the high quality shots the other teams are getting. Minimum of 4/game right in the slot with no one on their stick or body. How many do we get a game????

Without Quicks quickness, I believe we would be sitting with Edmonton in the standings.

    No complaints, lovin it.

Thank you, Captain Brown of Dustin…

Your performance in this game–shorthanded as you were–was exemplary. You scored while landing on your side with a mad leap on a rebound. You assisted on a beautiful rush goal. And, your courage inspired your teammates in a difficult circumstance, in a faraway place during the third period after surrendering the advantage.

You were a winner tonight. For that, I heartily thank you, and would sing your praised over a full stein of your choice of brew, if you were here!

    Hail, Captain!

    ;)

Great to see Brown get rewarded for all his efforts in recent games. I thought he was our best forward last night also.

Agree with the comment on Quick not getting any of the Star selections against Dallas. Nick Nickson needs to back off that Nyquel cough medicine.

I was at that Dallas game and when Quick wasn’t the first star the entire section I was sitting in all looked at each other like … wtf?

Nice to see Brown comment on Elkins. That’s got to be a bit of a rush for Elkins, not only playing significant minutes in his first NHL game but being praised by his teammate for playing well.

I mean, the kid wasn’t really even on our radar until a few days ago. Obviously being a Manchester fan, I knew him and his game as well as you can in the 16 games I’ve seen him in. And I knew he’d have a shot, but I figured it wouldn’t come until later in the season.

Hey Holly, how is Meckler doing centering the forth line back there?

    [Reply]

  23. holly says:

Meckler has been playing mostly wing. But given our current center situation (Elkins up, Cliche listed as injured) we’ve got 2 centers right now (Mikus and Gauthier). My prediction is that we’ll see Meckler centering a lot more. He’s been playing well, though his numbers are unimpressive. He only had 2 points (1-1) in October and November, but he’s had 6 (5-1) in eight games in December, including two 2 goal games. So, his production is picking up. Even when he isn’t scoring, he plays really hard. He’s quick and pretty aggressive for a smallish guy. I always have a special fondness for the guys that you look at them and go not “Wow, look at his skill.” but “Wow, look how much he loves playing hockey.” Not that I’d call Meckler unskilled, but he won’t be that guy to knock you out executing perfect, almost impossible shot after shot. He’s the guy that plays with his heart. He’s also been playing with a full shield all season. Voynov started wearing one, too. I believe around the end of November.

Scratch what I said about 2 forwards, it’s apparently 3. Looks like Bates cleared today.
