Rich- Why don’t you interview Jamie Kompon and ask him if he wants to keep his job. This lack of scoring on the PP is BRUTAL! Have we scored on a 5-3 this year? Could have been 2-2 and been a different game. Ask him why we NEVER shoot a guy backdoor and we NEVER set a guy up in the slot. I’d like answers to those questions. I think we’re the only team in the NHL who doesn’t do those things.
We looked sluggish. Parse was pretty much non-existent. Purcell was WORSE! Kopi looked like he had bricks on his skates. Brownie and Stoll had lots of energy. Williams did pretty well. Where the hell was the Frolov we saw 2 games ago? I KNEW he’d disappear again. At least he did have one good check in his own end.
So now Elkins has been called up for Simmonds. Guess Juraj Mikus is coming for Stoll. Either him or Cliche. I’m pulling for Mikus. Let him play with Brownie and tell him it’s really Ziggy Palffy.

It’s funny how people get all up in arms when I criticize Quick. Here is the stat we need to justify. Quick is 2nd in NHL in wins. Yet amongst the top 10 winningiest goaltenders, he is worst in GAA and Save %. I feel we are gonna have a SJ type year this year, maybe even with Presidents Cup and all.

Look kids, this team has been coming up with ways to win when we all at times thought that due to injuries they would MAYBE play 500-hockey. Not to mention this last string of games against the leagues top teams going to all the way to shootouts. Besides going up against the leagues best goalie and one of the leagues best puck-control teams, how can you expect them not to be tired once in a while? And oh by the way, they just lost one of their most inspirational players in Simmonds, who is also one of their only hitters, which helps tire the other teams out…. Yea we lost, bummer, but don’t even begin to say they have no heart after what they’ve just done the last month!

So Ryan Miller, Marc-Andre Fleury, Ilya Bryzgalov, Miikka Kiprusoff, Evgeni Nabokov, Craig Anderson, Roberto Luongo, Cristobal Huet, Niklas Backstrom, Pekka Rinne, Henrik Lundqvist and Semyon Varlamov all have at least 12 W this season, all have fewer wins than Quick, yet they all have more shutouts and better SV%. But.. That 2-1 that you speak of was played perfectly which left brown with one option. And, that option was to shoot the puck over the net.

The Kings also had ZERO breakout. ZERO penetration through the neutral zone. And, once they chipped the puck in the damn zone they were lucky if they were the first ones to get it.
Vancouver played OK. The Kings were asleep.
You can only get lucky so many times with terrible play. The two games vs. Phoenix and Dallas were straight up lucky wins.

You are mistaking my comment for someone bashing the Kings long-Term. That is NOT the case. They’ve played out of their heads the last 10 games with injuries.
That does NOT absolve this team from taking a night off. I can count the number of guys who played with heart tonight on ONE HAND:
Brown, Williams, Quick, Doughty, Greene.
Everyone else was not playing up to their usual selves. Why would TM have to call a timeout so early in the game if this was NOT the case.
I simply am calling a spade a spade. It’s what I witnessed tonight. Maybe you saw something else but the Kings played like they did on Saturday and as Justin Williams said ‘We have to play better if we’re gonna win up in Canada on this road trip. JW called it. They didn’t play better. They lost. This game was winable.

We played bad and didn’t find a way to win. Van played a much better game than us. They won the important faceoffs and could actually pass stick to stick. They seemed to get all the loose pucks.

Just got back from GM Place and here are my thoughts:
1. Brown was all over the ice, creating plays and generally upsetting Canucks fans. However, he should have had atleast one goal tonight. On the two-on-one with Kopitar, I thought he was going to crack his stick over his head after he missed.
2. I didn’t realize how bad defensively Randy Jones is.
3. Quick was very good tonight. Canucks fans were praising him all night.
4. Other than the first period, I thought the Kings generally controlled the tempo of the second and third.
5. I notice a couple times where TM was yelling at Moller to get off the ice and he didn’t.
In conclusion, the Kings were bad but not terrible. The second period was very boring and Randy Jones should go help out in Manchester. Oh, and GM Place is one crazy loud place.

I am extremely happy that a most of you are not in our locker room. We hit a little adversity and you guys are ready to hit the panic button. You know who you are. The road to success in this league ain’t easy. There are going to be setbacks. I would hate to be a teammate of someone who freaks out at every single setback. I know many of you are passionate, but jeez save the drama. I hope our young kids don’t read this blog and the negativity thrown at them by some of you so-called fans. You are the same fans who said we would freefall in the standings without Smyth. Didn’t happen. did it? I agree that we need to approve in some areas and no one or team is above criticism. We came in 1st in the West, way better than any of us thought they would be. No problem Cynic. We all want the best EVERY night, but the reality is unfortunately we’re gonna suck a few nights here and there. TM definitely makes some puzzling moves in regards to line-mates, who’s out there in certain situations, etc, but ultimately his job’s made a whole lot easier if each and every player takes that personal responsibility to bring his A-game every night. It’s easy for me/us to sit in front of the tv and be a back-seat-driver, and I guess that’s what these blogging sites are for, but I’m really proud of this years squad and honestly pleasantly surprised with the year so far. It’s gonna be a long one my friend and probably a real nail biter the closer we get to the playoffs. I’m excited, I’m ready, let’s just hope and pray we’re healthy at the end!!! As far as the team goes we need to stay positive while still holding ‘em responsible for the ultimate outcome.

I was a Purcell fan last year and do think he has some good usable skills… BUT at this point I really think, as a player and for his future, he needs to go back down and get his game calmed down and back together. He REALLY seems lost out there. I think this would be very valuable… if he can get his game back, then hopefully he’s ready should we need to bring him up TO CONTRIBUTE later in the year. So in other words I guess I’m wondering, do you think since he’s not really contributing would we CURRENTLY be just as good with a call-up in his place while allowing him some time to get it together, or should we just keep him up and keep hoping he pulls out of his funk???
