Quick postgame quotes

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…

(on whether he knew that the Kings would be in first place if they got two points…)

QUICK: “We did know that. Terry made a point of that, at the beginning of the game, trying to get in our head that every game matters. We had a great week up to that point. We were 3-0 going into this game, and he didn’t want us to take the game off and let a couple points slip, I think. I think he was making a point, to try to get all the boys to know that every game matters. At the end of the year, games like this, when you’ve got two points in the bag, that’s going to go a long way.”

(on whether he considers it surprising that the Kings are in first place in the conference…)

QUICK: “I don’t know if you could say surprising. I knew we had a great team. I knew we had a really good team going into this season. We made some good offseason trades and picked up some guys. I knew, going in, that we were going to have a good club. To say that we were going to be first in the conference, at the beginning of the year, that could have been a stretch, but I think the biggest thing for us to do right now is, we can’t get too excited about what we’ve done. We have to (not be) complacent and work and do all the little things that got us up to this point so far. We can’t look at the past. We’ve just got to focus on the next game. It’s a long season. We’ve got 50 games or so left. We just have to keep competing.”
