Quick postgame quotes

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts are below…

(on whether it’s more pressure to face a high number of shots…)
QUICK: “No, not really. Obviously, the less amount of pucks to net, the fewer the scoring chances, but from my perspective, you still have to make the saves in order to win the games. If it’s a couple more shots, I have to be ready for that. I wouldn’t say it’s added pressure or anything.”

(on the goals he allowed…)
QUICK: “The first one I saw. I made the save on it, but the rebound, before it even hit the ice, it just went off Tkachuk’s skate and into the net. The second one, I saw, but Boyes fanned on it and it didn’t go where he wanted it to go. The third one, it was a good play. Kariya ended up on the back door with the puck on his stick and an open net. And then the fourth one was a good screen by Backes. He’s a big body and he was doing a good job with that all night, getting in front. He’s a big body, tough to move, and it paid off there with the fourth goal.”

(on getting three out of a possible four points after two average efforts…)
QUICK: “There will be games where we will play great and we run into a hot goalie, something like that. That’s how the game is. Sometimes you won’t be playing your best hockey and you’ll get points. Sometimes you’ll be playing great hockey and you won’t get any points at all. You just have to get back to doing all the little things correctly and making sure that we bring the right mindset to the rink for practice and the games.”

Before opening face-off I said: “I can live with a point.”
The Blues came in hot after taking down the Sharks, so I didn’t expect this to be an easy win (given the Standings).
After watching the game – well, there were two points for the Kings, for sure. But they failed to pick them up.
    Quick did good.

Not sure what Kopi needs to get him going again, but he does not deserve to be the #1 Center right now. It’s one thing having a draught and not scoring goals but it’s a different issue not producing ANY points at all.
There are “hotter” guys on the Team right now. He needs to be given a different line for a while until he earns his spot back.

    My 2 cents.

Did anyone else hear Quick yelling in frustration when Boyes shot got past him on the shootout. Hate that the puck went in, but I’m glad to see that passion out of Quick. No doubt he could have been better at times, although he made some real nice saves, but I actually want an angry Quick in goal. Especially against the Flames.

I don’t agree. The other lines seem to be jelling right now, especially the PSS line (which stands to pss off a lot of other teams if their inspired play continues). Kopitar will recover his mojo…and where are all the Fro haters today?

When they sat Fro for a game, he came back and scored about 6 points in the next 4-5 games. I think its time to sit Kopitar and Brown for a game.

Fro was dancing the ballerina before he got benched. Kopitar and Brown are doing what it’s supposed to take.

  6. It was good to see Frolov react with the joy he did getting the tying goal. Hopefully, that sticks with him and he keeps it up.

And, yeah, Kopitar and Brown aren’t doing anything without heart. They are battling for the most part. They just need some strategy adjustment to their games to get them on the right track again. They don’t need discipline.

Brown is working his rear end off in all zones and if you watch, and you don’t even have to look hard as Kopitar goes into his loafing routine, sometimes he makes one halfast skate up the ice while doing nothing and then goes right to the bench like he’s winded. I know there are a lot of Kopi fans out there and heaven forbid anyone criticize him, but from what I see that’s how it looks, I don’t wear rose colored glasses. I want the Kings to win and they should have yesterday, and I want guys busting their asses when on the ice, don’t need any floaters.
