Friday practice update

After practice today, Rob Scuderi told me that he won’t play tomorrow but that he intends to play Monday against Calgary. Scuderi said his injury has been a “two steps forward, one step back” situation and that he doesn’t want to play until he feels he can fully contribute.

No other injuries or changes today. More notes and quotes from practice a bit later, including the mystery of playing well on Saturday afternoons…

My suggestion is they spend the night in a hotel, load into a bus in the morning having previously covered all the buses windows (except the windshield) in black paper, and drive into the bowels of Staples center without ever seeing the sun. Also, have David Courtney say, good evening, etc., and not good afternoon.

thats the mystery part of it Griddle, that we can’t figure out how to play well.

I will believe that he is playing Monday when i hear it from TM.

When he does play, I would sit OD for a game or two, and then sit Whiskey. And then if he sits too long then send him to Manch.

Hit the hay really early the night before (ganja usually helps if your having trouble) and then hold an early morning skate, like at 5AM or something, wake up the legs.

At least it isnt another 10AM game.

I bet Harrold sits again when Scuds comes back. And Quisp, I woudln’t mind seeing them try something like that…I was at the Calgary game and it was UGLY. Something needs to change for the afternoon games. Maybe playing against the old Murray will give them some extra motivation.

  8. What's the frequency, Kenneth? says:

I’m with you PB&G. Generally, I’d play Harry and rest OD about now but not against Calgary, giving the way they pushed the Kings around last time. I’d sit Harry Monday.

  9. EJ says:

So some of you are suggesting dressing 7 d, without Harrold, correct?

  10. What's the frequency, Kenneth? says:

I think that’s the popular idea against Calgary, EJ. I don’t know how that plays out for the forwards, though.

they could afford to not dress Ivanans too… in fact, skating with just 19 instead of 20 they’d probably be better off. LOL.

  13. Sebastian says:

I dont think Harrold has skated as a defender all year, now sure why his name is being thrown around here. You pretty much have 6 spots for 7 guys when Scuderi comes back.

    Who sits?

    Doughty – Yeah right?
    Johnson – Nope
    Greene – Nope
Jones – He’s earned a spot with his offense alone
O’D – Maybe if he needs a rest
Drewiske – I think its between him and OD

too many young players… can’t rebound for the 1:00pm sat games

For Calgary dress 7, even though sitting Harrold. Hell, Dress 7, and Harrold too, sit Ivanans and Purcell. Tell Parse that the job is between himself and Purcell, and if Parse doesn’t give a rebound game (he had a rough go last game but that was his first bad game) then let Pussell waste some ice time again. But dress 7 with OD in there, if Scuderi feels the least twinge let him sit out rest of game. I want OD in there for his size against Calgary…

  17. Player-X says:

The more I think about it, that job really has to be between Pussell and Parse, give them a 10 game playoff and be done with it. Parse is up first, and until he has a bad game, sit Teddy, or make him edit videos, or ask him to fill water bottles. Seriously, the guy had a “better” game against the Sens, but Purcell is supposed to be a scorer, not a guy that we are supposed to be satisfied with if he is improving at other aspects of the game.

EJ, I agree, no need to sit Harrold. The one game we didn’t dress him we lost a D and only had 5 for the rest of the game. We have the roster room, even before we managed to hurt both the guys we brought up from Manchester.

Sebastian, just my random thought, but why not rotate those three for a little while – let Scuderi get back up to speed, give OD a rest, and allow Whisky to develop as much as possible.
