If Stoll and Scuderi are both 100% and ready to play on Wednesday, do you know who will be scratched? or how the lines will look then? I’m sure one of them will stay out of the game – reason why they did 2 call ups?
[Reply]
Should be interesting to see if those lines carry into game time
[Reply]
Ugh, Purcell back up top? How about we design our lines to try and jump start our best players, and not our worst ones? I realize there’s not a lot of places in the lineup where Teddy logically fits, but I think the “Purcell on 1st line/PP unit” experiment shouldn’t have much legs left.
[Reply]
Wow, could be fun, could be a disaster. Haha!
Too bad its not on TV.
[Reply]
wow…
teddy is getting every chance to make things happen…you got to figure teddy has to get it going or he won’t be here much longer…i think fro/lokti/brown is a great call…that could be a very good combo…
i guess t.m. would rather have simmer skate on the right of zus than the left of anze…
i would have prefer simmer on the first…
[Reply]
peter mueller is apparently being shopped around by the coyotes…
he plays rw, but i wonder if he could play lw, too…
i just remember the guys rookie season when he put up 20+ goals /50+ points…
hmmmm….(?)
[Reply]
i can understand home games not televised, but away games? and most of the non TV games are in Canada, what up eh?
[Reply]
I like the look of it. Lets hope for some dividends!!!
[Reply]
How in the world does Purcell end up on the first line again? I can never understand Murray’s thought process. Is there really no one else that can fill that spot?
[Reply]
I think Fro should be on the 3rd and Parse on the 2nd. Brown and Lok won’t see the puck, let alone have a rebound to pounce on with Fro always controlling down low. He’s like a first grader who doesn’t know how to share the biscuit!
[Reply]
I think Purcell and Parse should swap places. Having Frolov on Loktionov’s wing should be fun. Atleast I hope.
[Reply]
Seabass, if you want to watch the game get Center Ice.
[Reply]
Dayman.. the trick is to be smart and live in Canada
Loving the look of these lines, Purcell hasn’t really had a shot on the top unit yet this year. Wouldn’t it be great if he put it together and went on a scoring streak? Remeber the praise we gave him after 5 games…
[Reply]
Well we don’t get ANY Kings games up here unless they’re playing in a Canadian market so I guess you guys still are lucky to be able to see so many games. Luckily for me, I have Center Ice so I get to see them all!!
[Reply]
Purcell needs to not blow it
[Reply]
parse fits better with zus and simmonds turning that into a true shut down line. how many time have we seen parse chase down a player and strip the puck from him/intercept the pass. purcell has the skills for a top 6 roll but has not been playing well. this will be a make or break game for purcell, if he doesnt do well playing with kopi and williams then he really shouldnt be playing in the nhl yet
[Reply]
LOL, no reason to put Loktionov with Parse, his linemate when Parse was leading the AHL in scoring. Nope, no reason at all… LOL.
[Reply]
I’m getting dizzy from the Purcell-Coaster: up and down, up and down, up…???
I agree Ectore, Purcell and Parse should trade places.
The Russian/Russian/American line is a total mystery. Should be very interesting to watch at the very least. I have to believe Lokti is pretty nervous centering a line with the captain and fellow countryman.
I really hope we see Segal on the left instead of Ivan.
[Reply]
Marc -
How is it that your info has escaped TM??? Hopefully someone will mention it to hime before the puck drops.
[Reply]
Haven’t we had enough of the Purcell experiment?
[Reply]
There was a caller on the Kings talk last home game… Question was for Nick, as far as why some of the road-Canadian team games are not on national TV.. Nick said that the cost for Canadian games, travel to Vancouver, and to Edmonton are double then regular trips and are not the same VS Ottawa, or Toronto.
But he said we can input our suggestion/feed back/complaints to FSN.
Here is a contact page for FSN where you can submit your feedbacks.

[Reply]
Parse should be on the 1st line, he makes smart plays, battles hard in the corner and isnt afraid to go to the dirty areas.
[Reply]
Well, this is exactly the line combo I wanted to see. Happy about that. Now I can only hope it works out… and I’m sure Teddy feels the same way.
I like that he’s getting this chance… but it could be his last. Maybe Lok or Seag wont be the one(s) going back down if it doesn’t work out.
[Reply]
purcell on the first line is a good thing. gives him one last chance for DL to decide on keeping or let him go
[Reply]
Anyone have a problem with Teddy P. on the first line? shouldnt he be in manchester instead of being on the kings!! he is just a horrible player i was expecting a lot from him and of course got nothing, frolov needs to step it up as well he seems like he doesnt want the puck and is scared of getting hit well thats what i saw when i went to the game on saturday
[Reply]

Purcell again?
What am I missing here?
Once again .. I vote for simmy on the top line.
oh well

————————–
from the saturday game he wasnt the typical frolov where he is in the corner holding the puck and dishing it out for the good pass, it was like there was no tape on his stick and all he did was dump the puck in =/ horrible game for him even though he scored, and jack johnson looked really bad, he made horrible passes during the game and just looked out of it

“LOL, no reason to put Loktionov with Parse, his linemate when Parse was leading the AHL in scoring. Nope, no reason at all… LOL.”
LOL, what is TM thinking, not putting these two rookies, who have a combined 14 games of NHL experience between them, on the same line. -rolls eyes-
[Reply]
@KENNY – Fro was apparently given a stern talking to about putting the puck on net, and at least Saturday he showed an effort to do something different with his game…and I’m sorry, but “even though he scored” is a remarkably weak rebuke–the scoreboard is everything.

so your saying if you score you had a great game? i beg to differ with you. frolov did not have a good game at all and yah he better score being with kopitar and williams i see no reason for him not to score. He played lazy and timid..
so your whole “fro was apparently given a stern talking to about putting the puck on net” is remarkably weak rubuke

“LOL, what is TM thinking, not putting these two rookies, who have a combined 14 games of NHL experience between them, on the same line. -rolls eyes-”
it’s all about chemistry… something the Kings have been lacking offensively over the past month. Give the kid the comfort zone of playing with a player he had success with, vs. two established NHL players who he has to “audition” for. Sorry, I’m not buying it. Loktionov is a gifted player and may succeed in this setting, but I was thinking it would help the Invisible Parse a whole lot more.
[Reply]
I think after Saturday’s poor performance DL realized he had to make a move and give TM some more toys to play with.
[Reply]
So we’ve got a LW who has shown nothing on our first line, and a 19 year old kid with no NHL experience centering our second line. Keep those fingers crossed everybody.
[Reply]
Fro had a shot, Purcell gets his shot. If this doesn’t work out it looks like we’re out of luck. They’re really the only skill guys the Kings have left.
I hear you guys calling for Parse over Purcell. Not a chance. Parce hasn’t done much on the score sheet while playing on the second scoring line. Now, I think Parse has a role, it’s just on the top two lines. I love his hustle and think he’d make a great third and fourth line guy.
Another thing with Purcell Skill alone is not going to be good enough. He’ replacing Ryan Smyth. He better get to the net or he’ll be off that line as fast as Fro.
[Reply]
Jumping Shrimp -
I can agree with your thought on Purcell getting to the net like Smyth, but I think it should be Willy that is driving harder. He too was brought in here to drive the net I believe. If he was the one that took the Smytty role for a while, while Teddy did his thing, this could really work. NOT that I’m saying that Ted doesn’t have to go to the net. He does and hard. While JW is doing a great job, a little switch in role may help this line in a new way.
Of course, Kopi will always be there help them both…
[Reply]
I love how the second and third lines look, but Purcell on the 1st line is tragic. How many opportunities is the bum going to get?
Frolov I think did a pretty good job on the first line. It isn’t going to be a natural fit and takes some time to develop chemistry, but he did score against Calgary and looked competitive and controlled the play in the offensive zone both games. I think the pairing of Frolov and Loktionov is primarily just to test out the two countrymen together, and I am absolutely supportive of that.
I think the 4th line will probably see Segal, Richardson, and Harrold play against the smaller Oilers so that they can see more ice time as Murray intended last game. Ivanans playing 10 minutes a game is just not a good idea.
[Reply]
@BMullet – It’s simple math. Lose three key players, bring someone up. It’s a little different from just Scuds or Stoll, or even “just” Smytty.
[Reply]
@Kenny
1) You don’t have to paste in the entire comment, timestamp and all, of the person you’re responding to. We can find it.
2) NOTHING is more important than the scoreboard. YOU read “great game” into that. The simple fact is Fro actually changed his game AND got results. You seem to have forgotten that the top line had previously done nothing useful before that (in Smytty’s absense.)
3) Stop playing 3rd grade word games. I’m trying to have a real conversation, not spitting contest. The “stern talking to” seems to have had results, and that was the point of bringing it up.
@KingsFanMGM – I agree with the logic behind the Loktionov/Frolov (hopeful) connection. I’m thinking TM’s probably juggling lines too frantically to know what works, though.
[Reply]
KingsFanMGM
How many oppurtunities?
I’m pretty sure this is his first shot with Kopitar and Williams.
The fact that you called Purcell a bum makes me think that you’re probably a Fro fan and are having trouble coming to terms that he never worked out on the first line.
You want to know something. Purcell might not do any better but I hardly think that line will be any worse than it has been the last couple of games.

lol how you can play 3rd grade games but if it comes back to you, you start crying.
i said nothing about the 3rd line i simply said that frolov has to step it up, he simply got lucky and got the puck under the goalie last game the 1 time he was in front of the net. the rest of the game he played horrible ohh wait never mind he scored a goal so he had a GREAT GAME! obviously you wernt at the game and hearing all the fans yell at frolov, your tv only shows so much
[Reply]
“Never worked out?” In either game? Not even the one he scored a goal in? My patience with Fro was waning too, but there was some change, and we’ll never know if it would have worked in the long term.
[Reply]
Pick a fight somewhere else, Kenny. The rest of us want to talk hockey.
[Reply]
lol kind of funny once again you pick the fight and start talking but when you get told the truth you cant even back it up
[Reply]
STFU Kenny. I told you twice I don’t want a fight, and you keep picking at it.

LOL Purcell top line? Oh Terry Murray, you’re a gemstone…
Why not recall Moller and put him on the top line with Kopitar and Williams? Ugh, so frustrating.. How did Lokti look in practice? Did anyone go? No?
[Reply]
ok we’ll stop just dont start it again
[Reply]

Sorry Kenneth. Just because Fro scored doesn’t mean they played a good GAME. I thought it was a little harsh but did you hear the Sportsnet’s analysts view of Fro? Like it or not they were pretty accurate.
[Reply]

Please tell me the Moeller comment was meant to be sarcastic.
[Reply]
This is getting ridiculous!
Wah..Fro this…Wah Purcell…that!
How do you people even enjoy a game?
[Reply]
@ TJS: As I said above, I’m not saying it was a good game. I’m saying he finally listened to what the coach expected of him, and putting it in the net would seem to be progress. If five other guys had put it in the net, they’d have been talking about how dominant they are. That’s one of the problems the media (and fans) have is that when you win it’s all good and when you lose it’s all bad. Even if a player has a bad night, and does what he’s told, it’s better than what he had been seeing.
That said, it would have been a little early to panic about Frolov not producing on the first line anyway, but it’s reasonable with two players coming up to jumble the lines. I just hope we don’t see them continually jumbled every game. Once players internalize what’s expected of them, they also need to figure out how to work together to make it all fit.
[Reply]
“What he had been seeing” should have been “what WE had been seeing.”
[Reply]
@crybaby
i think us kings fans are our biggest critics, which is a good thing i rather us do that then to sugar coat our team, lets keep it real purcell sucks, fro needs to be traded we all know that and it will happen by the end of the year purcell will be out fro will be out
[Reply]
We haven’t talked goaltending in awhile…What do you all think of the fact that although Quick has 12 wins, he has given up more goals than any other goaltender in the NHL and he is 19th in GAA. I know that wins are the stat that really counts, but I am starting to get worried. I have been a Quick supporter from the time TM named him as the #1 guy, but those numbers are going to catch up with him if our offence isn’t producing (just look at the last two games)…
[Reply]
Offense – I can spell, really.
[Reply]
Kenny
Do you like anybody on the Kings? LOL.
[Reply]
@PBnG – I’d say he just had the first real time off to work on his game. Let’s see what the next five look like. Even then, it’s hard to seriously evaluate him with the current flux in personnel and inconsistent efforts in front of him. Eventually, it may be time to try to send Ersberg down (risking the unlikely grab off waivers) to pull up Bernier or (more likely) Zatkoff.
[Reply]
@TJS: You owe me a keyboard that’s not soaked with iced tea I just spewed on it!
[Reply]
Wow guys calm it down, we;re all kingsfans lets just get along..lol, either way it;ll be kopy playing with the piano on his back for the next while, like it or not he;s our real leader on the ice
[Reply]
We need an intervention here…lol, Dr phil may have to be a guest speaker..lol, KENNY AND KENNETH group hug..lol
[Reply]
I was always a believer that one player does not a team make. I was wrong (Ryan Smyth) Presence with the puck behind the net. Presence in front of the net and the ever presence of the Heart of the team. I am just not sure why our Captain has not stepped it up at all. He already has the two kids (Family) no excuse He has the long term deal (Money) no excuse. Whats his excuse for not being a leader…
[Reply]
Sure be critical all you want. I agree Fro needs to be traded and Purcell is not living up to expectations. The point is that so many here are so negative that it seems as if you can’t even enjoy watching the Kings play.
I love the Kings and have for a long time. I want them to do well but if they don’t I am not going to beat my wife or kick my dog.
There will lots of ups and downs in a season…and to steal a metaphor from the movie Parenthood…I enjoy the rollercoaster! But it is annoying reading post from people that think they could be a better GM or coach.
Get over it and enjoy the ride!
[Reply]
I guess some of us have always been more sensitive to the trolls than others, but back on point, if Kopi plays a tune anything like Gretz played in Game 7 against Toronto (I believe that’s the reference) I’ll be ecstatic!
[Reply]
My biggest concern is poor quick, he;s gettin tired, he needssome relief but doesnt have a reliable backup, we need a go to guy to take 15-20 games off his hands, i know murray is extremely hesitant bout starting ersberg and his hands are tied
[Reply]
Purple and Black
This is because we have scored 5 or more goals in 7 games and the balance we score 1 or less. You are going to win with support of 5 or more goals but you are right he needs to come alive in the 1-0 or 2-1 games. Your goalie needs to steal some games in between. But with more than 2/3 of our games having been 2 goals or less, this is unexceptable and needs to be dealt with. Heatly 18 gaols already..hmmmm…who could have had him and Smyth? Oh right bad guy in the locker room. I’d like to have that bad attitude in the locker room guy while holding the STANLEY CUP and the confetti and streamers falling all around…Oh right the ducks did that with Pronger…I am still speachless that a high profile city such as LA wont go after that Top Player like (Gretzky) to build around.
[Reply]
why is everyone so worried…it’s not like we’re competing with the teams on this road trip for a playoff spot…oh wait…poop.
[Reply]
Good point, Griddle. I think that’s what may have gone unsaid. This combination of running around on defense, flatfootedness on the power play and the sudden injury bug all seemed to come to a point right when the next several games will be against conference opponents. There are a lot of proverbial “4-point” games in there, so it’s a bad time for a potential collapse.
[Reply]
when did this site turn into LGK. I left that site 2 years ago when I found Rich’s site and havent been back. I was sick of all the negativity and all the coach bashing. I really hope players dont read any of this crap, because I sure wouldnt want to play very hard in front of my so called “fans” that were bashing me every chance I got. LA is in a playoff spot for Gods sake.
[Reply]
You want see more players on the IR then dont play Ivanans Wed or Thurs and will get run out of the building. Ivanans needs to be dressed for are skilled players to not get banged up. Yes Ivanans hasnt fought to well this year but look at the guys he has taken on none of them have even come close to opening up with the guy. Ivanans will hurt somebody as soon as they let go of his jersey and want exchange blows with him. Trust me look at Gretzky he did get traded with Mcsorley wonder why!!

@ variable
“Peter Mueller is apparently being shopped around by the coyotes…”
This isn’t a huge surprise to me. I watched him several times in the WHL when he came to play Spokane, and the thought that came up was always… “This kid has a lot of skills, BUT he’s VERY lazy and doesn’t like to get dirty…” VERY frustrating to watch..! That being said, he’s good enough where I’m sure someone will always give him a spot. I honestly can’t say I hope it’s the Kings.
What about…
Brown-Kopitar-Williams
Frolov-Loktionov-Moeller
Stoll-Handzus-Simmonds
Segal-Richardson-Harrold-Parse

[Reply]
i would not say we are in a playoff spot yet, we are way to inconsistent right now, goaltending is a big issue right now and has been the first quarter of the year. quick is having a sophmore slump but he’ll get over it hopefully…. and we need to figure out what we are going to do with purcell and frolov
[Reply]
@ ryan oliver – The cool thing about Rich and this site is it’s not candy-coated BS. Rich vowed not to be the organization’s lap dog. If the Kings play like crap, they can be called out for it. You don’t have to be delusional to love your team. When they lost games but played well, they got kudos from many hear, including me. That’s not what’s going on at the moment. I’m sorry you don’t approve. Honestly, I don’t know where you’ll find the candy coating you’re looking for, because even AEG have dedicated themselves to a certain level of objectivity. Even Dean Lombardi is remarkably open about his personnel moves, and Rich posts his comments here. We just had an EIGHT PART question and answer session, where I believe every single question was addressed, even if it was (pardon the bluntness) stupid or repetitive.
All that said, there’s some hyperbole here. The policy not to censor for criticizing players means people are going to talk out of their butts from time to time. There will be daily calls to bring up Bernier or trade Frolov, or play someone completely out of position, even though the people who constantly harp on it don’t understand the implications.
It gets frustrating, but no more than watching players running around when they’re supposed to be concerned about positioning, flat footed when they’re supposed to be keeping their feet moving, and watching a team cycle on them when they’re supposed to be on a 5-on-3 power play! These things piss fans off, and it’s reasonable to want to vent about it.
To the point, wait until they win a game again, and there will be a bunch of frontrunners here wondering where they can get their Stanley Cup Finals tickets.
Yeah, that last bit was a bit of hyperbole.

Lets see how many more times I can say this if you have Direct TV order Center Ice after a few days tell them that you dont get the games that are on VS.and call and complain that you do not have Vs and the game is blacked out. THEY GAVE ME CENTER ICE FREE! THATS RIGHT FREE!I have told 3 people that did it and it worked like a charm….tell them you are thinking about getting dish if they dont want to take care of you. Works like a champ!
[Reply]
rozzy,
are you comparing Ivanans to Mcsorley? haha. Are you kidding me??!!!! Ivanans can’t even skate. Mcsorley protected Gretzky yes but it was a plus to take Mcsorley off the ice for the other team. It’s a complete minus for anyone to drop the gloves with Ivanans because it is that much of an advantage for the other team to have him out there…
Ivanans is useless and the quicker he leaves our team the better. each time he steps on the ice the other team has an incredible chance to score.
Mcsorley was a very good hockey player. Think greene/ O’donnell except mcsorley was atleast 3 times as good…Ivanans is lucky to have a job he’s that bad
[Reply]
JT Snow
Of course Mary was better player but his main job was to protect the players. I def dont always think that Ivanans follows that role to a T at all. Ivanans is really not that bad of a skater compared to alot other enforcers out there. Alot people say bring up Westgarth well that guy def cant skate.
I just wants team to know that they take liberties Ivanans will step up and do his job. And that doesnt always happen. But hey I will take Ivanans over alot other guys in the league that skate way worst then he does. You will see when Ivanans actually fights a guy that isnt pooping his pants and holding on for dear life that when he gets lose he can actually throw bombs.
So if the Kings dont want address the issue of Ivanans not doing his job right then I will support are local enforcer.
And JT what you wnat the Stache back watching are teams back no thanks
