We have been short handed for weeks. Richardson can’t score. Purcell can’t score. Harold can’t score. Parse can’t score. We need some scorers other than our obvious four!!

Bring up Moller before Lokionov. Loki needs to focus on a full season in the AHL. Moller has the experience and can play the wing. Move Parse to the 3rd line with Handzus and Simmonds instead of Ivanans, and then move Moller to the second line.

I am also not opposed to giving Purcell another chance on the second line, we might have to if Stoll is out too.

I’m beginning to think that DL is drawing a line in the sand, for the Kings’ players.

There are times when a team gets injuries, is busting a## and has just been worn down. The Kings still are having motivation problems, with sloppy play and lackadasical effort. Poor motivation is like the flu; one guy gets it and then suddenly the whole team has it.

This is one of those moments when players just need to step forward, suck it up and make their move. This team has always seemed to be waiting for something, or somebody, like Neo in the Matrix. The talent is there, with players like Brown and Frolov and Purcell and (hate to say this) Simmonds not pulling their weight.

DL and TM could be telling the players, ‘You are IT, Boys! Get it together, win some games, show just what you’re made of!’

Personally, it just seems as though there is something holding them back internally, and it drives me crazy.

Come on, Kings! You can do this! Let’s go, already! You’ve had a good start, don’t let it go to waste!

Well, I think it’s a lot to ask for, but with any luck Loktionov will stick, and vuala, second line center found. Stoll to the third line and Zeus to the forth (both where they belong).

Speaking of the fourth line…I think its lack of success, and subsequent lack of ice time has hurt this team badly. When your fourth line has ZERO goals a quarter of the way through the season, and for the most part averages between 4-8 minutes a game it puts a huge strain on lines 1-3 both in carrying the load on the score sheet and in playing those extra minutes night in and night out leaving a team tired and struggling to score…sound familiar?

Don’t put any of your angst on Harry. He’s a journeyman and he does his job well.

Bako, I tend to agree with you, but losing Smytty was really big. They were already shot on left wingers, and that hurt.

For those bitching about TM, he’s a huge step up from Crawford. The coach I’m missing most is Big Bird. I’d take him back.

Keep building that AHL team into a winner DL because my 12K a year season tickets (Only Seats) Another 12K per season in food, drink, Gas, parking & merch with the big club really cares about how well the kids are doing on the East Coast. They have not translated into an NHL player yet.

    Kopitar Came right up
    Johnson Right Up Via Trade
    Doughty-Right Up
    Simmons- Right Up
Quick- Few games only in manchester

Now lets see what the Monarchs have done

    Boyle Gone
    Moulson Gone
    Lewis – Horrible
    Corvo Gone
    Gleason-Gone
    Purcell-Horrible
Mollor (Played well until we allowed him to go play Jr Hockey and get injured) Now too small?
    Parse Jury still out
    Bernier-Still Head Case
Hickey – Where has he been?

Great players at that level only. The best players we have by-passed Manchester all-together..Am I right here?

I hope they call up Loktionov to play with Frolov. I think it was Jim Fox the other night talking about getting Frolov to shoot more and why that is so hard to do becasue its not how Russian players are tought or think. If the kid plays well and sticks keep him at center when Stoll returns and move Zeus to wing. Either way its a nice problem to have.

    Purcell/Kopi/Williams
    Frolov/Loktionov/Brown
    Parse/Zeus/Simmonds
    Ivans/Richardson/anyone but Harrold

You are right about the support comment. I wont miss a game (Season Ticket Holder) I Tivo every away game and I bought Center Ice because the Morons wont televise any games in Canada. I believe I am a true fan. It is hard to watch your team try and do what the Non-Comitted ownership will allow them to do. AEG does not care a lick about this team. DL has done a great job with what he has been given. What he has been given has not been much and we are still in the same place we were when he got here. A bit better right now but falling like a ton of bricks because of injury. The organization needs to get behind their team or sell it. We have not had an ownership since Mcnall (Granted, he was a thief) but he loved hockey and gave this town a much needed shot in the arm. Jack Kent Cooke had the lakers so the Kings were just an after thought. AEG only cares about LA Live and the AMA awards, Grammy’s and others.

  26. PRMan says:

    @Andrew – It’s “voila”.

You know what, Harrold doesn’t get a pass from me. He sucks as a forward. And he’ll never be better than a #6 defenseman. There, I said it. We could use someone better in that 4th line role. That line needs an occasional goal from throwing the puck at the net randomly. So far, Ivanans has been the only member of that line to do so.

I have been wondering why we didn’t call people up sooner. We have known Smyth would be out for a long time for almost a week now. Scuderi was already out. The Manchester guys could have been here practicing with the big club. I guess they wanted them to get their weekend AHL games before calling them up, but I would rather they played on Saturday.

  29. IceGuy says:

I hate to say it, but I see a pattern here. It started with the Williams trade last spring. We were points away form the 8th spot, and Lombardi pulls the trigger for a man who can’t play. Message to the team: No playoffs this year until you get better. Golf season starts early as usual. Prominent team members say we need a LW. Lombardi: You guys get tougher and better. As with any season, guys get hurt. You usually go to your minor league team to plug holes and get at least some support. Lombardi: No new guys. You regular guys get tougher and get better. How much tougher and better are Ivanans, Purcell and Parse going to get? How much extra effort can Kopi, Simmonds and Brown exert making up for missing linemates before their “regular” games suffer? How depleted will this team have to get before management shows some support? Even guys from Slovinia and Russia can count. Is there an “internal” problem with motivation on this team? Yes there is. No support from the front office is showing up as the “we’re screwed” attitude on the ice. And Murray’s performance with the line change sealed the deal. How much simpler does it have to get for the front office of the Kings. If it AIN’T BROKE – don’t fix it. If it IS BROKE, fix it fast. Deano – it’s time for YOU to get tougher and better.

Larry Robinson did a great job with what he had.

  31. Quisp says:

Nah. I don’t think there’s a motivation problem on the team. It’s a youth thing. They’re kids. Brown, for better or worse, is learning on the job how to be a leader. Not every team can have a Messier or Neidermeyer or Scott Stevens or pick your hall of fame guy to inspire the team.

Loktionov and Frolov together? Hmm. I don’t know. Someone has to be able to shoot off of AL’s crafty passes. I would do Parse/Loktionov/Brown.

Whoever said Purcell and Parse can’t score: They obviously can score. Patience. Purcell hasn’t even played 80 pro games yet. Parse has played, what, 15?

Re Harrold: agreed to a point. But he’s a hard worker and it’s not his fault that nobody has stepped up to knock him totally out of the line-up. You have to like a guy who sticks despite the odds like that. Bylsma was the same way, and had that great quote, to the effect of “if other players did their jobs, I wouldn’t be here.”

Re Moller: anyone who thinks Moller is a problem of any kind I would say is just blinded by the desire for some kind of instant quick fix savior to swoop down and cause the team to go 50-0 the rest of the way. Moller is a huge asset, a leader, a scorer, and — you’ll believe it by the time he’s a grown up — a hitter. Again, a little patience.

Stoll — was playing, um, not well before Parse got here. He’s picked it up lately, though (I believe) all (maybe all but one) of his even strength goals have been due to Parse.

Smyth — as someone pointed out, he was healthy for the Atlanta blow-out and the Chicago loss, too.

Scuderi — yeah, that’s a big blow, but he’s almost back, and plus — what are we going to do with Randy Jones, who has played mostly great, once everyone’s healthy?

What number will Loktionov wear? His hero’s number (8) is taken. 18 is retired. 28 is taken. 38 sucks. I guess that’s why he wore 48 in camp. Wore 90, I think, in Windsor. 88? Ugh. I guess 48 is okay. I generally don’t like those big numbers though.

I loved Larry Robinson as a player (well, I hated him, but I was a Bruins fan then), and was not much of a fan of him as a coach, as he seemed to be more of that Tom Webster coddling of star players mold than the d***head systems defensive team approach I personally favor. Though he is responsible for one of my favorite bits of hockey wisdom:

    “Never trust a forward.”

pr0cess – we are in trouble

Kopi can’t carry the entire team on his back for 82 games
Smtyth – Playing great hockey but injured
    Williams – better than expected

Brown – worst season so far!
Stoll – had really picked it up of late but now injured
    Parse – Give me a break…move to 3rd line

Frolov – playing on the checking line…..duh
Zeus – solid 3rd line center but so sloooowwww
Simmonds – has not really improved from last season.

Purcell – playing him on the 4th line….may as well shoot him in the head now and put him out of his misery
Richardson – plays hard but no points….I wonder why?
Ivans – necessary…4 shifts for the first two periods and than bench the rest of the game.

And for all thsoe who think Moller is the answer…forget it! We’re already too small and last time he was up he was spending more time getting plastered in to the boards…he’ll be on IR before you know it.

  35. Quisp says:

the answer to what? yeah, this season is just a train wreck so far…

  36. SuperSonic420 says:

How are we too small?? We have exactly two skaters under 6′. And Richardson and Harrold don’t seem to have too much of a problem with it. I remember the Pens saying how BIG the Kings were, and they play in the East! Moller would be just fine on the second line. He deserves a shot, he has done everything that has been asked of him in Manch. Its not his fault he was injured in the WJC and didnt look the same after that. He’s a good player, like a mini Tomas Sandstrom, and I cant wait till he’s ready!

Simmer hasn’t improved since last season? Which games are you watching? Not the same that I am, just because you can’t see all the little things he does on the ice that are so intelligent and nifty, doesnt mean he hasnt done them. Simmonds will be a dominant power forward one day, and he has looked great at times.

This team isnt built just for this year. Just because we beat Pittsburgh and Anze is the leading scorer doesnt automatically make us cup contenders. Some people better get a dose of reality or your going to be awfully disapointed. This team is built to be a playoff contender for years, and they are just barely scratching the surface of the potential they possess. This year can basically be considered a good start to a very long journey. The faster this team comes together and learns how to win consistantly the shorter that journey will be. There are going to be a lot more adversity coming, so if bitching about it makes you feel better than by all means. I just think it makes more sense to step back and just enjoy watching a team that any night, against any opponent this team has a chance to not only win, but win playing some good hockey. That is not going to all of a sudden go away forever. There is a lot of good talent on this team and definatly problems to overcome, and I believe in time they will correct the problems and this team will take off and not look back for a long time. The kids will be alright, its some of you others im not so sure about.
