Loktinov, Segal called up, Smyth to IR

The Kings made their moves, calling up Andrei Loktionov and Brandon Segal and putting Ryan Smyth on injured reserve.

Loktionov leads the Manchester Monarchs with 17 points in 20 games, while Segal has 14 points in 21 games. Both would make their Kings debuts if they got into a game, and Loktionov would make his NHL debut [thanks for the edit...]

Segal actually played in a couple of games for Tampa Bay last year.

Surprised they are giving Loktionov a chance so quickly! Counter to Dean’s usual approach?

it’s just an emergency callup. Come a week or so from now, one or both will be back with Manchester.

I wonder how Frolov and Loktionov could work together. Could be very, very intriguing.

I’m excited to see Loktionov up. From what I saw at training camp, he’s a skilled guy. Hopefully he can help kick start the team a little.

    So how does that work?

    Fro/Kop/Williams
    Parse/Loktionov/Brown
    Segal/Zus/Simmonds
    Ivanans/Richardson/Purcell/Harrold

I’m excited to see Segal in the line-up. The guy plays like a power forward- hits, fights, decent skater, and he can put the puck in the net occassionally. Put him with Kopi and JW so he can crash the net and get to work in the corners, or place him with Ivanans and Richardson… Good call up!

My sleeper Steven “above the law” Segal gets a shot! Can’t say I didn’t predict it though :)

Put parse on the energy line already. All he is bringing is energy. I cant remember the last time the second line scored. I think its time to give the whole lineup a shakeup. I for one want Brown on the first line to give Kopi and fro some room.

    Fro/Kopi/Brown
    Purcell/Loki/Simmonds
    Parse/Richardson/Williams
    Pylon/Zues/Pylon

If Stoll is healthy, put Loki in Purcells spot. Although who knows if Loktionov can play wing, but who cares. This team needs to start scoring

I really hope both these guys play…anything to get Richardson and Harrold out of the line-up…who cares if the coaches like them, they have produced nothing…same with Purcell…the 4th line needs a makeover….badly.

I just wish Simmonds would get a shot on the first line for Frolov. Simmer makes things happen every single time he’s on the ice.

Haven’t seen them myself so can’t comment on if I like it or not. I will say thanks for getting another S name in. Was worried that with Smyth, Stoll, and Scuderi out Simmonds would be next. LOL

Cant believe that we scrapped the Ivanans project so quickly

We needed a center, and Lok was really the only option, unless they brought Moeller up instead and had him play center.

Well the sooner we bring the kids up and get them experience the sooner we will know if we need to make that big deal and scrap the youth experiment for good. I hope we see these kids excel on the Ice. Bernier is probably pissed again to see two more roomates pack for L.A or in this case Canada.

What is the purpose of injured reserve? Is it simply just to open up a roster spot so guys can be called up from Manchester?

Good move. Both had good camps and deserve the call-up. Segal has a little more grit whereas Loki is more of a finesse guy.

Be interesting to see how the lines are juggled. That first line needs a shot of adrenaline… or Simmonds or someone else.

Im just saying — okay, I know you are another one of cristobal’s logins, but I won’t bother to call you on it. The “youth experiment” as you put it is a complete and total rebuild. We are not going to alter the plan when it is working so well. Every single aspect of the rebuild is hitting on all cylinders. The Kings will be one of the top teams is the league for the 2000 teens.

And your latest attempt to create a controversy in the Kings camp is one of the silliest I have ever heard.
“Bernier is probably pissed again to see two more roommates pack for L.A or in this case Canada.” I am sure that Bernier wants as much as every other player to do whatever is best for the team. You really should stop insulting the players when you have absolutely no knowledge of what you post.

A bag of pucks, Handzus, Purcell

P.S. Voynov needs to be given a fair shot to show what he can and cannot do in the NHL!!!
