End of second: 2-2

In all, a better period for the Kings, who got two early goals and outshot the Flames 12-7. The Flames will be on the power play for the first 55 seconds of the third period, courtesy of a Raitis Ivanans offensive-zone interference penalty.

I hope TM bench him rest of the game! offensive-zone penalty!

Here’s what Sportsnet had to say about the Kings this time:

“This isn’t your mother’s LA Kings. You give them a chance, they’ll take advantage.”

“And then the second goal, 38 seconds later, I’m not sure Terry Murray will be smiling about Frolov’s goal or just shaking his head, because why he couldn’t he do this at all in the first period? Where was he? He’s replacing Ryan Smyth, he’s gotta show some more grit. We know he’s got great hands, but it’s up here [points to head], it’s up here that I’m sure Terry’s trying to talk to him about in the second period, as well.”

More Fro hate, brought to you by a biased, far-flung observer.

That was a horrible call by the stripes. If it wasn’t Ivan standing there it probably wouldn’t have been called.

Here’s another gem, this time from Roger Millions, the ice-level reporter, asking a question of Flames assistant coach Dave Lowry:

“This is a team, the LA Kings, that give up an awful lot of shots on goal…”

Yeah, Roger. 25.9 shots per game is a boatload to give up. So much so that only Chicago is allowing FEWER shots on net. That’s right — 28 teams give up MORE shots on goal.

Nice to see Sportsnet’s people put a lot of research into Flames’ opponents.

Seems they’re doing everything they can to ‘not win’ this one. How many PP’s do they need to give up. They’ve only had one PP vs 6 Calg. PP’s. Better get smarter out there.

Shots at the second period mark: 20-19 Kings?

I guess that projects out to 3-4 whole shots more than the Kings’ average/gm in shots…

    I guess that’s one reason why Quick’s save percentage isn’t higher…

At 25 shots per game, Quick could have an .880 save percentage (22 saves) and the Kings would still have a chance to win.
