Martinez sent to Manchester

The Kings this morning activated defenseman Alec Martinez from injured reserve and sent him to Manchester of the AHL. Martinez has been out for more than a month with a high ankle sprain he suffered in practice. I’m not certain if this means Martinez is ready to play. From what I understand, he’s still going to need some time on the ice to get in game shape.

why do we know its a “high ankle sprain” and not a lower body injury?

Rich, does this mean that Smyth is going onto the “IR”?? Or are they jsut going to leave him as “DTD”?

    Thanks.

Smyth will hit the IR, retroactive to the date of his injury, when and if Deano decides to make a Manchester roster move. A loss against Calgary, coupled with the Monarchs ability to score more than one goal at home, and that might happen ;)

    @ dayman:

i can only assume it because he has completely healed from this and would not suffer any grave consequences of other teams knowing/hearing of his injury.

i can further assume that once smyth comes back to the kings, we’ll hear his shoulder or his arm was broke or whatever the injury was.

Dayman…It’s up to the coach/GM to reveal, or not reveal, what the injury is. In this case, Murray came out pretty early and said it was a high ankle sprain, after initially going with “lower-body injury.” Why? I have no idea. They’re not always consistent.

I’m surprised that someone didn’t mention “pregnant” as a lower body injury.

Wow nobody in this league can tell their fans what kind of injury their multi million dollar players have. Meanwhile everytime the President has a loose stool we hear about it. Nice national security in the NHL.

Minors- So far Moulson,Boyle,Moller,Lewis,Purcell,Westgarth have not come through and these are top prospects as stated by Hockey news. Wow tremendous drafting. And Hickey, Schenn, Bernier and others are just not their mentally or physically? I hope we are on the right track here.

I would really like to see Moller get another shot with the Kings.Theres alot of small players that do well, or have done well,St. Louis,Steve Sullivan, and a guy named Ziggy,to name a few.We really need a little more speed in the line up. Thats just my opinion.

rockandroll80s…Could you please work on consolidating your thoughts into one comment? Your stringing together of several one-sentence comments, consecutively, tends to clutter the comments. I appreciate it.

Martinez played last night. Looked decent.
Though, when Campbell’s on your team, it’s isn’t too hard to not be the worst guy on the ice.
