Congrats to Nick Nickson

It’s been a big week for Kings radio play-by-play announcer Nick Nickson and family. Late Tuesday afternoon, Nick became a grandfather for the first time, when Nicholas Casey Nickson was born to Nicholas (Nick’s son) and Alexandra. Also, Wednesday was the 28th anniversary of Nick’s first game with the Kings. Nick did color commentary on the simulcast with Bob Miller as the Kings beat Detroit 8-1 on Nov. 18, 1981. Marcel Dionne scored four goals. Congrats to Nick!

Rich, Do you know why FSN does not have KINGS LIVE during home games, or Lakers live anymore? Lately, they have been showing the previous game 2 hours prior to the game start.

That is a sure sign that he was going to have a great future. I love listening to the radio play-by-play because of Mr. Nickson and Mr. Evans.

    Congrats

Gotta say, I’ve been thinking about that too Harry. I’m biased of course, but it seems to me someone has to step in and do some more Kings Radio. Whether it’s an internet channel or actual radio, or even TV (less likely) it seems like there’s an audience for it. Internet would probably be the easiest way.

Did anyone else hear Darryl Evans congratulate Nick Nickson on the radio last night for becoming a grandfather after his “son gave birth?”

Congrats to him and his family! Thanks for all the great work on the radio. When games are blacked out I tune in to the play by play on XM and love to hear hockey like they did before the invention of the idiot box.

Growing up I listened to Bob and Nick at night time more than I listened to my parents.

When you listen to Nick call a game, it’s like you are watching it on TV. He’s the best! Darryl is no slouch either!

    Congrats Nick!

    Congrats to the Nickson family.

I always thought that Nick and Daryl did a great job of bringing the listener into the game. I just did not realize how good they were until I heard most of the other announcers on satallite radio. We are very lucky to have Nick, as he is clearly in the top group of announcers.

Nice story, Nick. Do you mind if we call you Nick? It would avoid a lot of confusion.

Brian, you don’t know how luck you are to listen to the television play by play of Bob Miller!
I do wish that Bob Miller would stop updating us on who is leading the NHL in points until the Kings have played at least 70 games.

I can understand why Bob Miller is doing that, but I wish he would stop until the Kings have played at least 70 games.
