You guys talk about babying Bernier and not letting him get shelled in an NHL game to wreck his confidence, but first, we have not seen him in an NHL game in over 2 years so it's possible that he will be just fine- other goalies from his draft class have entered the league and played well (like Varlamov in Washington, who played his first NHL game in the playoffs last year and excelled. Talk about pressure.)

And what about Quick? Isn't it going to destroy his confidence if he keeps giving up weak goals like 2 of the 3 last night (only Kovulchuk's had any right to go in) and at least a couple of the goals he gave up in Chicago?

Why is everyone worried about Bernier but not Quick?

I suggest that if Quick does not turn his game around in this two-gam swing through Florida it's time to send him back down and bring up Bernier to see how his game looks at the NHL level. It has to happen sometime after all.

When you bring them up, you just don't do that to them, and you can't send him back down after it doesn't work out.

I am completely and utterly devastated and angered by the fact that you Rich, of all people, would even QUESTION the ability of Juraj Mikus to score. HE SCORES EVERY GAME!

Watch the games in slow motion and you will see him score at least once every game after the puck drops. He is so fast, as the puck drops from the refs hand, he corrals it, skates to the net and scores, returns to the net, grabs the puck, and returns it to the exact spot where it was dropping in the faceoff circle and returns to position BEFORE it hits the ice. Proven fact. Watch slow motion video. It's tough to see, but it's there.

Shame on you Rich for such awful reporting from someone who by now should know better.

..and Reno, calling up Juraj Mikus to put between the pipes wouldn't be fair. His laser vision would explode every puck shot at him, although I don't see anything in the rulebook against using natural laser vision in goal.

Kenneth that was a couple years ago. You can't baby him forever. You got to give him a chance to prove sooner or later. Yea, if you're goalies are hot there's no need but our goaltending is poor. We need to at least give him a shot. A four or five game stint couldn't hurt. He's done it before

re Quick/waivers: I was going to say he was still exempt, but you're right, his exemption expired two weeks ago, with his 60th NHL game. Oh well. I still would waive Ersberg and bring up Bernier.

It's not worth it Chris. A few years ago, Bernier had an absolutely lights out game to start the season. So Crawford (I think it was Crawford) kept him in goal for a few nights. HE GOT LIT UP.

That's how you ruin a young goaltender. Put him in a situation as the goaltender where you need the wins, and see him get tagged. It's all downhill from there.

He's been through it once. He needs to be brought in as the backup for a while when the team is playing well, before you put him under pressure.
