Standout wingers

To add to the ever-present Alexander Frolov debate, Terry Murray had high praise for Frolov’s game against Carolina, as well as Wayne Simmonds’ game. Simmonds had one goal and one assist and Frolov had two assists, and the pair combined on a great, important third-period goal. I thought Frolov’s play had taken a dip of late, but he also might have been dealing with the hip-flexor problem. Regardless, he was strong last night.

MURRAY: “Simmonds and Frolov played tremendous games last night, as good as they’ve played in the last several games. It’s hard to say that they were our best forwards, because everybody was good last night, but those two guys were really good. I’m very happy with their games. We had a review of the video this morning, in the team meeting before the practice, and highlighted some of their efforts. Heavy on the puck, great attitude, determination, taking it to the net, scoring big goals and just very responsible without the puck throughout the game. I’m very pleased with both efforts.”

I like Fro’s game last night. The big thing now will be the consitency from game to gaem…shift to shift. If he could only play the same way every night, he’s be irreplaceable.

No shock hearing about comments on Simmer. The guy just comes to play hard every night. You don’t win a Stanley cup without a guy like that on your team.

Here is a nice little quote from our favorite crease fearing ex forward when asked in a blog about a charity where NHL players were growing mustaches about playing hockey in LA

O’SULLIVAN: It’s definitely different coming from L.A. where nobody cared and after the game we’d have two people in the room waiting to talk to us. I didn’t know what to expect when I was traded and I didn’t know how I was going to like it. But to me, I think it’s great. You want to play somewhere where hockey is important. It’s everything and more that I thought it would be. The games are sold out and it’s a fun building to play in. Outside of the weather, it’s a great city. In my opinion if you want to live somewhere warm, you can do it when you’re done playing.

Obviously none of us care about hockey. It also shows that he not only lacks the grit to go the crease, he also lacks class. No one that knows hockey calls us out for being poor fans.

I know that some of you will make this about DL and TM but the dude has worn out his welcome in several places already and is well on his way to doing it up in EDM.

    Good Riddance

Oh quit crying. Every player traded away from LA says nearly identically the same thing. The truth hurts.

Holy ****, Murray praised Frolov? Something is really fishy….

Like Jimmy said, Frolov needs to be an impact player. There’s really no question about it. If he can and he control the play down low he’s invaluable. If he’s unwilling to do that night-in, night-out than he’ll be let go at the end of the year or traded at the deadline. Hopefully the former because the Kings will want him for the playoff run.

Crosstown Traffic: Its not the truth, actually. The Kings get coverage inline with their success. The teams in Canada have nothing to compete with for sports attention and are obsessions. Its just different, its not better or worse. And if O’Sullivan cared about giving effort he might still be in this crappy city to be third in West.

I’ve always been a big Fro fan….I love the way he can
control and protect the puck along the boards….he’s tough to knock off of it because he uses his body to fend off attackers and is very strong…

sure he’s had some inconsistencies, but I think at his best he is an elite player and DL will definitely want to lock up his contract for a few more years…GO FRO!

Why am I on the wrong blog?

Secondly, Im not doubting if O’Sully is bitter. I was pointing out the fact he’s not the only player that has said something like, “oh yeah more media coverage, nobody cares blah blah blah blah”.

    Thirdly, Frolov is the man!

O’Sullivan has company in the form of Cammalleri. That’s some great company to be in right there. And frankly, he should take some responsibility. If the team had been successful there would have been more coverage. He plays a part in that.

Kings Hockey has a great fan base in Los Angeles i hate it when these people try to say that people here in Los Angeles dont know their hockey, O’Sullivan is obviously bitter about the way the trade went down even Kings Practices have people attending watching our Kings and what has he done up in Edmonton NOTHING and Alexander Frolov is the man i know Coach Murray has had some difficulties with him but not because of poor character on FRO’s part he just wants Frolov to play well and i thing Frolov knows that look at the game he had last night he was great actually using his size to check people

Since Fro is not a defensive specialist, for me the key to whether he’s playing well is how often he gets the puck to the net, preferably on the forehand instead of a weak backhand wrap-around, or whether he is settling for passing the puck to the point. He doesn’t have to score, just get the puck there cuz with Sommonds and Zus, he’s got linemates looking for the garbage.

I just about died of shock reading this too, Crosstown! Hehe.

Well, I don’t belong in either the Murray or the Fro hater camps, so I’d better get out now before the next cagematch starts. Good to see some positive developments and some positive reinforcement.

Since most of you think TM is an idiot, why would you consider any of his praise for Frolov valid. You should try to be more open to his perspective or less considerate of these pro Frolov statements……should you not?

Frolov is a solid player. I have never understood all the grief he gets. It is good to see TM giving him some positive feedback. Just imagine how much better this team would be if Frolov were on a pace for his usual 30 goals…

Living and dying with the Kings, I read everything including keeping up with the minors. I don’t remember much being written about Simmonds, however. When he came up last season, I wondered “who is this?”. This kid has proven he will be great, injuries notwithstanding. Always hustling. I hope he gets the press he deserves.

Fro is a great 2 way player and played
    Superb against Carolina.
    Williams was great as well.
This is praise I can appreciate, after a nice 2 points.

One worry was the 1st lines play in our end. But, a little fatigue may be the culprit.

Glad to see Murray also got the subbing-in of Jones correct. We need more ” jumping-in” from the blue.
