Wish they could copy and paste the third period from this game into the one in Chicago.

Great win but they should have some trepidation with having Ersberg as their backup. The team, for the most part, limited the number of tough shots he had to face after that second goal by Ruutu, which is fortunate. I’m not so convinced it was an unadulterated win for him.

Lombardi should seriously consider bringing in a veteran backup or perhaps the time is now for Bernier to arrive and battle it out with Quick. Ersberg makes me hold my breath everytime he faces a shot.

Loved the Doughty piece, Rich. TOLD everyone after that rough first game that he’d be fine! It really is tough to see any real limitations on what to expect from him.

I even emailed the moron to tell him he needed to wake up and fix it… we just need to get it through our heads, no one cares about the kings but us. Solid W last night, but i think JJ is our weakest link. The upside is there, but the decision making needs a lot of work

Awesome, this is exactly what you want from your team. Even if your goalie is the second coming of Patrick Roy, you want the team to step up and limit chances. If putting in Ersberg gets the team working this way, then let’s keep him in for a few games and see how the team responds. Imagine the defense playing that way in front of Quick. We would be unstoppable!

Overall, it was a good road win. It was a game and a team we should have beat and we did. The second should have been better, but from what I hear, Carolina amped it up a lot. Still, we should have matched intensity (I didn’t get to see it, so I don’t know that we didn’t). This win should help spread some confidence into the next game, which is crucial on road trips. We’re 1-1-0 so far on this trip. Let’s finish it out with 3 big wins. Go Kings!
