Just got back from the ceremony…a very cool experience. For those who might catch this during the second intermission of the Kings-Chicago game and want to watch Luc Robitaille’s induction speech, you can do so here…
By the way, when I mentioned that I would transcribe the speech, I didn’t know part of it was going to be in French. Slight miscalculation. Help, anyone?
Fairly even game tonight. Hawks have gotten the better chances. Fro alert-he has jump tonight. Need to kill 1:56 PP start of the 3rd.
Congrats to LUC

Our best line has been Parse-Stoll-Brown

Darren Draeger, during the Versus intermission that somehow showed up on my computer, was asked if this is the greatest HOF class ever. He went on and on about three of the players, all obviously deserving…and excluded the highest scoring left winger in hockey. WEAK!
[Reply]
that’s the second time versus talks about the HOF class mentioning everyone but Luc, WTF. Don’t they know his teams out there and we’re all watching!

JINX
[Reply]
LOL…I we’re in sync! Thanks for mentioning what I forgot, though, that they don’t seem to be paying attention to who’s watching (maybe they think no one is, because they’re not on DirecTV.)
[Reply]
Down 2-1 again/radio only here at work…
Withstand the CHI surge, boys, and win this game late!
Oh, another PK…
[Reply]
Down 3-1…
This will be tough. Think we’ll get a PP in this game?
[Reply]
Where the hell is the character? It better rear it’s ugly head now down by 2.
AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
[Reply]
They’re calling some pretty weak penalties against the kings yet missing them on the blackhawks.
[Reply]
PP-scrum in the corner to the right of Quick. Puck bounces out over the stick and through the legs of Zus. Toews walks in alone and makes a great play. 3-1 hawks
[Reply]
ps the call on Kopi was week
[Reply]
Kings have the firepower to come back in this game. They have to regroup and draw a line in the ice…
Winning time!
[Reply]
PP kings
[Reply]
that last shot looked like it maight have went in I hope they take loook at it
[Reply]
Ohhh…
That should do it.
1-4
[Reply]
What the hell is with Jack Johnson? Horrible giveaway.
[Reply]
After Doughty hit the post, the hawks shut us down.
Then the Hawks got us chasing around and beat a helpless Quick 4-1
[Reply]
What an ugly period. Looked like the Nashville performance.
[Reply]
Well thats the first game in years that I have shut the tv off. I can’t bear to watch Williams out there.
[Reply]
Williams is just fine. It’s JJ I’m pissed about. Our only goal is because of a heavy check by Williams to keep the puck in the O zone.
[Reply]
Need a goal or two for self-respect, now.
[Reply]
Nick Nickson said Quick’s looking uncomfortable, fatigued…
Interesting.
[Reply]
Jack Johnson is terrible yet again! Who would have thought? Getting beat by Madden easily on the first goal, horrible giveaways and is a minus!
[Reply]
1st two pk goals surrendered in one game, in the last ten games.
[Reply]
The Hawks 1st line absolutely owns.
[Reply]
Where is the team defense? WOW, hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. Must stay positive and optimistic, but …
[Reply]
For those that can’t see that the goaltending is “WEAK”, need to check again. Out of the 4 goals only 1 goal was not a WEAK goal, the other 3 goals quick NEEDS to make the save. We are NOT going to go far with this goaltending. The 3rd goal that chicago scored on “QUICK” basically demoralized the team. It looks like they have no life left in them.
Goaltending NEEDS to be HUGE for us if we are to make it anywhere!
[Reply]
worst game i seen this year…wait icant watch its not on tv……worst game i HEARD???
[Reply]
Don’t forget, folks…
Chicago is GOOD, AT HOME in front of 20,000 screamers…
[Reply]
Quick let in a soft goal yet again (the first goal) and then over committed and went for a poke check and lost on the Toews goal.
Quick is not responsible for deflections (two of the goals) responsible for the other two goals. Please note that he did overcommit on the Ebbet goal and should have had that one too.
[Reply]
…with plenty of power plays randomly called…
[Reply]
…And, they are coming off a great winning streak.
They’ll get back/ couple of horrible games.
[Reply]
Scuderi had not been a good player for us.
[Reply]
Sit Johnson, Quick and Ivanans next game please!!!!!
[Reply]
If it wasn’t for Quick standing on his head it would be 8-1.
[Reply]
Oh look, a booby prize penalty with 1:29 left…
[Reply]
Great Speech. Robitaille is pure class. I am glad I got to grow up with him.
[Reply]
What ever you want to call soft goal… over commiting or what ever else… the first PP goal they had, quick should have had that post covered… yet he left a HUGE whole, and you can see that being set up from miles away… whether quick needs someone to push him or shove him, he needs to pick up his game… i have no confidence in this goaltender until he proves that he deserves to be no.1 for this team, which he has deffinetely NOT shown!!
[Reply]
you can’t really give quick all the credit, this was a team effort
[Reply]
“What’s the frequency, Kenneth? says:
If it wasn’t for Quick standing on his head it would be 8-1.”
Did you watch the game? Cause that was deffinetely not the case.
[Reply]
As well as we’ve been playing in the 3rd period, I never expected this kind of a meltdown.
Pitiful finish. I almost want to sit Jack Johnson the next game and let Randy Jones play.
[Reply]
…another TEAM egg…
[Reply]
PurpleNGold, we disagree. It’s tough to give a ____ when the team has mailed it in.
[Reply]
I think the team should have gone to Toronto also and skipped this one. Oh well, on to Carolina. If we don’t win there, I believe we’ll be in for a few changes.
[Reply]
What’s the frequency, Kenneth? true it is a matter of opinion, and i hope we bounce back next game! We did hit 2 goal posts which could have made it a diff game. This is to hoping the boys bounce back to the way we know they can play!
[Reply]
That and a better officiating crew…but it wasn’t just one or two things, and it wasn’t quite as bad as the previous game (but then again, I wasn’t privileged to watch either on a regular TV feed.)
One of the “nice” things about the road is that there isn’t a lot of time to mope around–they have to get on the bus to the plane and get ready for the next game.
[Reply]
Sorry game. Everyone not in LA watching the game is thinking, I thought I vaugely remember hearing how suprisingly good LA was playing…what were they looking at
JJ sits and EE in to give quick a rest, I agree with what Nickson said
[Reply]
the game against nashville didn’t worry me. bad games happen. it was this game where there needed to be a response and it simply wasn’t there. the effort, the keeping your feet moving, the puck support and playing for eachother was the answer but virtually never happened the whole game.
what worries me is that this team might think it’s better than what they are. that’s a character thing and far more telling then any stat
[Reply]
I was just thinking that Jerry and I watched the VS feed so I didn’t hear NN. Good time for Ersberg to redeem himself against a struggling Canes team. Get a win and get back on track. Quick gets some rest and off we go.
[Reply]
well, everyone knows that you will not win many games only playing 40 to 50 minutes a game. I thought the first two periods were great with the exception of Justin Williams. I felt JW gave too much space to the offense. Two of the goals seemed to be on his watch. I have to agree that was a pretty disappointing game, especially being the only one on the night and everyone else in the league watching. Sigh. Maybe we will see Ersberg in Carolina? Might be a good team to get him in against.
-Dave
[Reply]
I see Ersberg starting in Atlanta or Tampa, not any sooner. That’s sorta good, because Quick gets a chance to deal with it and either face being in trouble or dig his way out.

Ok, the French: not so up on Quebecois but, the speaker in my house says he thanks his mother and father (which is evident!) but he talks about his dad taking him to all the practices and building a thing in the garage for him…also mentions his sister. Awww. Will try to get more on a replay.
I am so proud of Luc! I remember watching his rookie season as a kid, in the Fabulous Forum. Well, how else can I say it? He just seems to radiate positivity, both in person and on the ice. I am so grateful for all he’s done for this team, and the game. He felt lucky for being able to play, but we were lucky to have him. Thanks for a million great memories, Luc. You truly deserve this magnificent honor.
[Reply]
Luc is nothing but class. I wish I could find the goal he got credit for sitting on his butt on the ice and I think it was Dionne that banked it off his back. Does anybody know where that is on youtube?
About tonights game, Chicago just had all the energy in the third. Quick was left out to dry. The deflection in the second, quick never had a chance. They were outplayed in the third.
[Reply]
Poetry from Luc… hopefully his prediction of a cup to LA will bear fruit. Too bad he retired before he could hoist it for LA. Get it done Dean!
[Reply]
Kings were outplayed in third period, Quick did ok but Kings D broke down and they couldn’t control in the neutral zone – not the worst game of the year, but probably worst period (third)
[Reply]
Luc said in French: Thanked his parents, his midget coach who put him on the left wing, other coaches and friends and what they taught him, and his friend for all his support and time together.
I once met Luc in the Kings locker room at the Forum after a game in 1990. While other players we’re more distant and stressed out after the Kings had played a pretty bad game, Luc took the time to talk to me, my brother, my cousin, and my dad. He aksed us if we wanted to take pictures, signed all our stuff and could not have been more welcoming. That said it all to me as to why he was and still is so popular amongst Kings fans. He is the kind of player and the kind of person that I really admire and I’ll never forget the night I met him. His acceptance speech almost brought tears to my eyes. By far, Luc will always be my all-time favorite King player. I hope he and I will both see the dream of seeing the Stanley Cup in Los Angeles one day.
[Reply]
Other than the beginning of the game the Kings got outplayed. They did not do a good job on the PK. Horrible job Boxing out in the crease. The last two games have been hard to watch. Preds game it looked the whole team was asleap. Chicago came out played the their game. Kings came out and just sorta played.
Kings need to get back some of that defense from last year. Goals and chances will come. But we won’t keep winning games unless we can keep goals out of our net.
