Is there time for a bag skate before the flight? I think the team needs one after this game. I still say we are a good team. One game doesn’t change my opinion one way or another. I hope we use this road trip to get back together. I only wish the game was on T.V. so I could have seen the breakdown and be able to offer some constructive criticism my self. The only thing i can criticize is the radio doing a station id after the one in the commercials so we missed the only Kings goal.

I know Quick has played really good this year..but he still seems to give up one soft goal a game.It also appears to always be on a long shot.To me that is the difference between being a contender for the playoffs or a ring….Also i dont see Jack Johnson deserving his minutes…I was at todays game and a few times johnson was behind in the action only to be saved by Quick.I would trade him right now and bring up another d from the minors…If this was Frolov this blog would be going crazy.Has Jophnson even been named one of the 3 stars in a game this year?
[Reply]
Rich..is there a place where all the stars are kept checked..in another site(i dont remember where) a player received 3 points for being star#1..2 points for #2 and 1 point for #3.It would be interesting to see how our players are doing..
[Reply]
This team is going to the playoffs this year and there will be setbacks like the one we saw today, however, this is exactly what seperates the Kings from the good teams in this league, I mean the real good teams like SJ, CGY, NYR, etc.
They do not have a killer instict and don’t beat the teams they need to beat, like Vancouver and Nasvhille, who both came in with depleted lineups and left with two points. If they want to get to the upper echelon in the NHL, they need to feast on the weaker squads, and put games away late, i.e. the San Jose game earlier in the year and letting some teams come back late
[Reply]
WOW
NOW TSN has the Kings on the front page…. after a loss.
punks.
[Reply]
NYR? really?? even the best teams get beat by a bad team every once in a while. Last season The redwings lost to Toronto in their home opener. What separates the great teams is how they respond, I guess we’ll find o0ut on Monday.
[Reply]
I got a line from the movie BASEketball running in my head and it seems right to post it. “Well it’s a team game so I guess it took all of us working together to lose this one.”
[Reply]
So Vasquez, are you going to tell me that the really good teams don’t loose a game to a bad team once in a while? I’m sure SJ, CGY, and the NYR have all lost a game they should have won and they all have played a pretty sad game.
I know the Kings are doing well and are playing great, but we have to remember that this is a young team and for this team to be up there with the so called really good teams says a lot about this team. This is a young team that is competing and being able to stay up there with the so called good teams that are stocked with veteran players. Seems to me this good teams should be way ahead of the Kings in the standings, yet they are right up there.
We lost a game now we move on to the next game and we go from there. There is no reason to call FEMA for emergencies, it was just one game that we lost.
[Reply]
Wings down 5 1 to the never win Leafs now i don’t feel quite as bad.
[Reply]
Just wanted to let Anthony know that the Maple Leafs have beat the Red Wings tonight by a score of 5-1….OH AND THIS JUST IN: Justin Williams DOES NOT play for the Red Wings. Weird!
[Reply]
Terrible game but these games build character.
Post game write up on http://www.lakingsnews.com.

Isn’t it ironic that some of the “losers” post only after a loss? For those of you who were lucky (smart?) enough to not be at the game today, our “Hero of the Game” (The armed forces person)evened up the score from the other night, when that “hero” held up a penguins towel, by holding up a towel that read “KINGS 5 pittsburgh 2″.
[Reply]
The stinkbomb at Staples today was reminiscent of Andy Murray’s Kings rather than Terry Murray’s. It wa just one of those days all around in sports. Nothing to do but move on to the next one.
[Reply]
I’m not one who jumps too quickly to judge a team’s heart, especially when I can’t see the game. But after opening night and the game in Columbus, the team has responded well. I’m guessing Terry Murray will help them check their pride and have them playing better on the roadie.
That being said, I find it extremely funny that most of the comments on this blog are quick to look at them as Cup material after the Pittsburgh game. I’m hoping a lot of you are not on suicide watch after today. I still believe this team is a playoff team and will end up with a 5-8 seed. But they are one of the youngest teams in the league and still growing. It’s painful when it happens, but I expect this team to have setbacks like this a few more times this season.
There’s no coach that can change that and no zen formula that can replace the lessons learned like a good kick in the teeth.

Vasquz. One thing i’ve learned as a hockey fan is, your teams going to loose. The important thing is did we create offensive chances. Were our guys strong on the puck.Just because we lose the game doesn’t mean that we played poorly. We Could out shoot a team 30 to 18 and still loose. We could get outshot 18 to 30 and win.The important thing is not to look at who we’re playing but how we’re playing over a 5 to 10 game span.Considering our place in the standings I’d have to say these kings are learning how to win.Matt Goerge Love the observation.

Well said Joel.

It was interesting being at the game and watching the team, who clearly was as “off” as they have been “on”.
I had the feeling that the team had a Fro day as opposed to a Kopi day today, and it seemed to me that the team really was lost without Kopi’s leadership. Kopi couldn’t do anything right today, and I don’t say that to put him down, but in sympathy.
This may seem like a silly analogy, but when I was younger I used to bowl in leagues, and I was consistantly good, but every once in a while I would lose my timing. I didn’t know why, I was doing everything the same as I always did but I seemed unable to get the results that I wanted.
I think Kopi had one of those days. And it seemed like it spread out to the entire team, in the same way it does when he is on his game.
Their timing was off…it just happens sometimes.
[Reply]
Disappointment. It happens. It’s happening much less than last year. ‘nuf said?
[Reply]
I’m not saying the kings will never lose, I’m just saying when a team comes into your building, with a very very depleted roster, you need to have a killer instict and take it to em’, no question. Against, both Vancouver and Nasvhille the Kings played to their level and got outworked. We’re not used to having a more skilled lineup and can’t take that for granted, as they did yesterday. The Canucks and Preds both played to their strength, which was not skill and out worked us. That’s all I’m saying so relax, they’re still number 1 in your hearts
[Reply]
Well I can think of one positive to take from the game….. (cause TM couldn’t)…. at least Erik Ersberg didn’t start! Can you imagine if he had?! This blog would have been going crazy… send im down… get Bernier. Hopefully when he gets his next start they play better than they did against the Preds.
Another thing I’ve noticed is certain teams you’d expect them to beat seem to have their no. in LA. They haven’t been able to beat TB either at Staples, now add NSH to the list (at least for the moment)
[Reply]
They played flatter than a tortilla. Enough said.
[Reply]
It was a strange game to be sure. There would be times when the puck would be on the ice between 3 or 4 Kings and NONE of them would have a clue where it was. Nearly every pass on the Kings few scoring chances seemed to be rolling on end and bounce over a guys stick or off his stick. Ryan Smyth was turning the puck over through the middle at the Kings blueline. The whole team just seemed “off”. It was obvious that they were playing during their normal naptime. I predict a strong bounce-back game against the Hawks. . .this team seems to get “up” for big games. Except for JJ, he flat out sucks right now and needs a couple “therapy days” for his head. Seems to be suffering from a severe cranial-lower body inversion insertion injury.
[Reply]
Some credit goes to Nashville. Gotta show up against the Preds or they will burn you. They work hard every night b/c of the lack of depth and star power.
[Reply]
Go get the Hawks boys!
[Reply]
PP goals are down.
[Reply]
There are a few things to address here. One is the kings haven’t played nashville well historically. Two a team that has injuries to it’s regulars brings up minor leaguers that are hungry and looking to prove something to the coach every shift. It was mentioned several times how much the kings got outworked by the preds. Three the king’s up until this game were 6-0-2 in their last 8 we can’t expect them to win every game. TM mentioned that an emotional let down was expected not because they are young but because no team can sustain that kind of intensity for 82 games. It happens.
