Initial reporting around the league had the Pittsburgh Penguins going for a NHL record 8-0 road start tonight. If you look at the official NHL record book, that’s what you’ll find. Turns out, someone forgot to update the record book. The league somehow missed Buffalo’s 10-0 road start three years ago. Oops… So the best the Penguins could do tonight is claim the second-best all-time road start. New Jersey is also 7-0 on the road this season but doesn’t play another road game until Saturday.

The best the Penguins can do tonight is to lose and lose hard, and ruin any chances of getting any record, while the Kings celebrate a hard won victory over an elite team. (my biased analysis)

Hope it’s a good game tonight. Also don’t know if anyone cares, but on ESPN every thursday they have Thursday Night Hockey. You get to ask Melrose, Barnaby and LeBrun questions. One person asked LeBrun “over or under 5 years for kings to be in finals? LeBrun responded with “June 2012.”
