It’s 4-4 after regulation. Meanwhile, Jonathan Bernier has a 1.60 goals-against average in Manchester.
Kings 4, Stars 4
This one required a review, even though it was an obvious goal. Loui Eriksson’s drop pass found James Neal, whose long-range slap shot first hit the left post, then the back of the net to tie the game with 2:46 to go in the third.
Kings 4, Stars 3
Just like that…it’s a game. Sean O’Donnell’s clearing attempt got picked off, and Karlis Skrastins’ high shot through traffic beat Quick 6:38 into the third period. Then, just 1:32 later, Quick got beat on a bad goal, as Mark Fistric’s low slap shot from just inside the blue line cleanly beat Quick.
Kings 4, Stars 1
It’s a hat trick for Anze Kopitar, who picked the puck up near the left boards, cut to the slot and beat Alex Auld with a backhand shot. Wayne Simmonds skated in front for some traffic and also got an assist, as did Alexander Frolov, 9:55 into the second period.
Kings 3, Stars 1
The Kings took a two-goal lead 7:17 into the second period on the power play. Dustin Brown controlled the puck in the corner, then sent it back to Anze Kopitar behind the net. Kopitar faked a centering pass, then cut to the front of the net and beat Alex Auld with a backhand shot.
End of first: Kings 2-1
Kings outshot the Stars 12-6 in the period. Anze Kopitar’s goal was his sixth of the season, in 10 games. Last season, Kopitar didn’t score his sixth goal until the Kings’ 25th game.
Kings 2, Stars 1
Two quick goals. First, Alexander Frolov picked off a pass in the neutral zone, brought the puck up the left side, then fed a perfect centering pass to Wayne Simmonds. Simmonds then did a nice job of controlling the puck and, as he skated to the front of the net, went to his backhand and [...]
Kings 1, Stars 0
Anyone else think that looked a lot like Anze Kopitar’s first NHL goal, when he went around Chris Pronger? This time it was Stephane Robidas, as Kopitar skated in, cut to the net and tucked the puck past Alex Auld 3:54 into the first period. Dustin Brown and Ryan Smyth got assists.

Simmonds' even newer look
According to Bob Miller and Jim Fox, in their in-arena pregame segment, Wayne Simmonds will be on the top line with Ryan Smyth and Anze Kopitar…
Simmonds' new look
Terry Murray said he intends to start tonight’s game with the Frolov-Handzus-Brown line matching up against Dallas’ top line of Brenden Morrow, Mike Ribeiro and Jamie Benn. That should give a different look to Wayne Simmonds, who now partners with Jarret Stoll and Teddy Purcell, but Simmonds said he won’t be changing his approach to [...]
Lewis' second chance
Trevor Lewis, a healthy scratch in five of the Kings’ nine games — including Monday’s game at Dallas — will be back in the lineup tonight in some form, perhaps even as the top-line right wing. In four games, mostly on the fourth line, Lewis has yet to record a point and has a minus-2 rating. Before [...]
Doughty update
Drew Doughty has been playing with the bulky face shield, which covers his mouth and jaw area, since a puck struck him in the mouth in the Oct. 10 game at St. Louis. Doughty, this morning, was awaiting the arrival of a new mouth guard that would allow him to shed the shield. Doughty is [...]
Williams' possible replacement
Justin Williams had only been injured for about 20 minutes when Terry Murray talked to the media post-practice today, so he didn’t yet have a firm idea of what his lines might look like tonight. As reported earlier, Murray said Williams “has a little bit of a lower-body issue and is doubtful for the game [...]
Williams doubtful for game
Justin Williams sustained some type of minor lower-body injury during the morning skate and is doubtful for tonight’s game. Terry Murray would not disclose the nature of the injury but said he doesn’t expect Williams to be out for long. Williams left the ice early, under his own power, and didn’t appear to be seriously [...]
To the point
Terry Murray talked today about positioning players on the power play, particularly about having forwards on the point on the power play. Murray talked about a change he made after the Columbus game, taking Justin Williams off the blue line on the power play, mostly out of concerns about counterattacks… MURRAY: “Well, that was the [...]
Murray, on benching players
Going back to the Frolov situation — it was fun taking a break for a couple hours, right? — Terry Murray talked today about benching players, and star players in particular, and what he tries to accomplish when he does it. It’s less about Frolov and more about Murray’s philosophy in these situations, although at [...]
Long week for Purcell
It’s been quite a week for Teddy Purcell. His absence from practice on Friday was the first indication of the flu that would spread through the team, although Purcell did not miss a game. He said he has been able to eat a couple full meals since the team returned home and is feeling stronger. [...]
Murray, on the new lines
Here’s what Terry Murray said today about his decision to essentially swap right wingers on the second/third lines, with Dustin Brown joining Alexander Frolov and Michal Handzus, and Wayne Simmonds joining Teddy Purcell and Jarret Stoll… MURRAY: “I’m looking to get an answer to a question I’ve been asked several times by you, the media, [...]
