Nice to hear that he said he was sorry , Rob is not a dirty player.

Excellent news. At least, there won’t be any more cheapshots at kings players as a result of this…
[Reply]
I suspect the phone call went something like this:
Scuds: “Hey Jason. I’m really sorry about the hit. It’s a spur of the moment decision and I should have stayed a bit higher taking you into the boards. Sorry man.
Chimera: “No problem Rob. We’re all out there to win. I understand. I know you didn’t mean to smash my face into the ice and bust up my grill.”
Scuds: “By the way Jason …”
Chimera: “Yeah Rob?”
Scuds: “If you think my check was hard, wait until Doughty or JMFJ gets you lined up! Keep your freakishly bald head up next time you play the Kings!”
Chimera: “Ummm …”
Scuds: <>

Nice to see that sportmanship is not dead.

Classy move by Scuderi. I wonder if Chimera felt the need to apologize for cheap shotting Frolov later in the game..

calder has signed with the ducks!!! epic!
[Reply]
Scud – I apologize for absolutely destroying you
Chim – uhh

“I wonder if Chimera felt the need to apologize for cheap shotting Frolov later in the game..”
I’d be curious to know as well, but somehow I doubt it. It bothers me how little that has been talked about, compared to Scuderi’s hit.
It is great to see that Scuderi really is a good sport, but I still agree with Quisp on this one: If the hit had really been dirty and low, Chimera’s knee would have been messed up, not his grille. The fact that he landed on his face is more a reflection of the fact that he didn’t brace himself than whether or not the hit was illegal or unethical.
[Reply]
Maybe it was one of those “I’m sorry you think that…” apologies.

“calder has signed with the ducks!!!”
Panic in Anaheim. I guess losing at home to the worst team in the league, your ex-GM, your ex-head coach and an important D who just left as a free agent will do that to you.
[Reply]
He certainly didn’t have to do that. That really says a lot about Scuderi.
[Reply]
cool…classy…closure…
time to move on…
[Reply]
with the calds signing in anaheim, i wonder if the honda center plexiglass behind each of the nets will have to be replaced on a period-by-period basis like it was last year when calds played at staples for 41…(?)…
[Reply]
Very cool of Scuderi.
Guys, it has less to do with if the rule book says it’s legal or not, there’s unwritten rules that most competitors agree with and abide by. One of them is shots to the knees and I can almost guarantee you that’s why he called Chimera…..out of respect. As far as the face plant, I loved it. That was exciting to see.
Let’s gut some fish tonight boys!!

This kind of thing happens all the time, and has for years (decades) but now that the Kings have an embedded blogger, we hear about it. Good for us.
[Reply]
This wouldn’t happen in the NBA or NFL.

Marc Nathan = Feel Good Killer.
..and they call me Cynic.
[Reply]
Rob “I’m sorry I had to teach you to keep your head up. Might watch how you fall to avoid landing on your face next time”
Chimera – “yeah but it’s ok because I punched that Russian kid in the back of the head. I bet he didn’t see THAT one coming!”
[Reply]
Scuderi is such a classy guy.. There needs to be more athletes like him.
[Reply]
Who is the second UtahKingsFan?
[Reply]
Hey Mark, since you are well aware of all of the things that have had happened for years, you certainly shouldn’t have any need for this blog. C-ya…
[Reply]
It was nice on Scuds’ part to be the man and acknowledge that the hit was lower than he intended. That’s really all there was to it. At least he wasn’t a pussy about it, taking cheap shots at other players, like crybaby did.
[Reply]
Done. Over. Let’s move on.
