Rich,
I can’t overstate enough the significance of this blog and the job you do with the Kings. I discovered your blog about halfway through last season with the Daily News, and it has made me that much more of an interested fan who wants to get as much information as possible. I find myself checking this site with much more frequency since you made the move, primarily because I know that you’re much closer to it and you continue to provide us with a steady diet of information.
I can say that I’ve also been a huge Laker and Dodger fan for years, but I find that they are more on the periphery now in terms of my interest level (In spite of the fact that the Dodgers are becoming a consistent playoff team and in spite of the fact that the Lakers won a championship.) I’m sure I’m not the only fan who once had a diverse diet of sports but now pays more attention to the Kings than the other teams in the Southland. It’s not a reflection of their product as much as it is that they have not taken steps to incorporate this type of medium. I believe the Kings are going to find that their interest level, box office sales, and merchandise are going to increase not just because their team will be more successful, but also because of the time and effort you spend keeping us informed and the freedom the Kings have given you to make this work. (I also think having you speak between periods really improves the Kings’ broadcast.)
Huge accolades are in order for you, Luc, and anyone else who had the vision or a hand in making this happen. The other teams in the Southland better take notice before they are marginalized in the eyes of some of their fanbase like me.
Thanks again Rich!

Well said. Bravo, Joel.
[Reply]
I’m not sure how many fans actually do appreciate what Rich does and how he gives us an amazing insight to the team we love.
Forty-two years (so far) and we will have a cup soon enough! GO KINGS!
[Reply]
Here is another fan who appreciates scoop!!!
[Reply]
Rich is the best! All King’s fans owe you so much for what you do for us! Cannot say it enough, Thank You Rich!!!

anyone bored check this video out. It was Scuderi on Zubrus a while back. Same check as he put on Chimera.

[Reply]
He was there a little tiny bit earlier on Zubrus but man, that was damn near a mirror image.

Guys, go to the LAT poll and vote for the Kings:

onnungreatwon, and then go ahead and check this one out:

Keith Ballard taking out Malkin – exact same check. With the slight exception that the Commentators praise Ballard for the “great, clean check”.
Hockey, after all, is very subjective I guess…..
[Reply]
wow…just came across this story from SI about former linesman Pat Dapuzzo…just an incredible story. You realize why this is the best game on the planet played and run by some of the best people in all of sports.
I hope the link is correct
Rich..I hope you don’t mind me putting this on here.

How come there wasn’t a contest to bring the “Biggest Canadian Kings Fan” down to Staples for Canada night on Thursday versus the Canucks????
Everyone in LA should want to see this game and concert, The Hip are Canada’s house band and one of the best acts you will ever see live.

Dom
Great post. had forgotten about that one. Saw it last year live on TV. So, why is Skuds getting a fine and not Ballard?
We need a private organ not affiliated with the bias front office making these desicions.
[Reply]
Dom-
Thanks for that link. NOBODY can tell me with a straight face that Ballards hit on Malkin was higher than Scuderi’s. Unreal.
I would LOVE Colin Campbell’s explanation on the difference between the two. Rich, if you could somehow get that, it would shake up the hockey world a bit.
[Reply]
Since we are going off topic here a little. Does anybody know why you can’t find any stats on the Ducks web site? They only show last years. Are they too embarassed to put them up for this year?
[Reply]
NHL.com has a poll on best rookies D-man and Whiskey is one of the choices
[Reply]
I agree completely. Rich’s Blogs have been my one stop shopping site for anything Kings related since I discovered it last year.
[Reply]
Here is another local kid we should be rooting for – Emerson Etem:

Would be nice to pick late in the first and select him.
Also, I believe this guy is eligible for 2010:
Gašper Kopitar
[Reply]
who is Gasper Kopitar?….brother?
[Reply]
Yes, little Kopi.
Also, two of this year’s draft picks are in the top 10 for scoring in the WHL:

[Reply]
Howe 9…The real question is why were you looking at the Ducks website?
[Reply]
This is what I’ve been saying! The difference between the Ballard and Scuderi checks is: nothing. Oh, Chimera fell on his face. And Malkin rolls with it the way 99% of everyone who was ever hipchecked does.
[Reply]
the Ducks have a website??

Loungo injured!

C’mon Rich! We know you know what’s wrong with Williams. Is it:
a) above the knee
b) below the knee
c) the knee
d) all of the above
Just post it! It’ll just be between us!
