Parse in, Lewis out

Up front, the Kings will play tonight as they practiced yesterday. Scott Parse, called up yesterday from Manchester, will join Jarret Stoll and Teddy Purcell, while Trevor Lewis will sit out. Here’s what Terry Murray said about putting Parse in the lineup. I’ll have something later on his decision to keep Lewis out…

MURRAY: “I’m going to play Parse here tonight, get him into the lineup with Stoll and Purcell. He’s the leading scorer down there (in Manchester) and he’s here, so I’ll give him a shot and see how it goes. I’m hoping that he’s out to prove that we might a wrong decision. Sometimes that’s a lot of motivation for a player. He didn’t get an exhibition game and he got sent down. He gets things on a roll down there, with a lot of confidence, and the attitude sometimes is, `I’ll show that organization that I’m a good hockey player.’ I hope he brings that attitude tonight.”

Asked about what he saw from Parse in training camp, Murray said, “I didn’t play him in an exhibition game for a reason. I wasn’t seeing enough of what I need from a player like that. He’s not a heavy body. He’s not a bulky guy that’s going to go out and run people over and establish that kind of physical game, but he does produce on the offensive part of the game, with points and goals. He does have to be a creative player and make things happen, and I was not seeing that. He clearly is doing that down there in the offensive part of the game, with Manchester, so that’s what he will need to bring here tonight.”

sorry bro but until DL makes one of your sought after trades, that’s pretty much all your going to get for now. Hopefully it translates into a W which is what counts.

I just dont understand why it should be one or the other. SIT IVANANS and play both kids with potential. Thats all I’m saying

Please package Frolov and all the suppossed Great talent we have in Manchester for a ligit goal scorer. AKA Kovalchuk…Two lines that will scare any and all opponents. I am afraid if Smyth goes down at anytime during this season we are in a heap of trouble. Im just saying

I like the jump of Richardson game lately. He fits that 4th line quite nicely. Now play him with a healthy Clune and a Lewis or Moller and we are set. Im just saying

Personally, I think we have all seen what Lewis can bring, and it’s not an NHL game.

TM IS AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kings will never be a contender under his reign. All he has done is make mistake after mistake. He can’t even see what is right in front of him. Let the kids play and mean play give them the ice time. How can anyone prove themselves to him if they keep sitting them. GOD WHAT AND IDIOT!!!!!
    Make a trade already!!!!!!!
I am so sick and tired of these 3rd and fourth line dramas.

lmao another bad decision by TM.. We need this win, we need to cut Phoenix, bring them back to reality, but having a third line of Purcell-Stoll-Parse won’t help us too much.. But Brad Richardson does fit perfectly on our 4th line

We need to slow them down..Phoenix is a fast team. We need to solve Bryzgalov, he has a GAA of 1.26%, save % of 0.949 with two shutouts. Bryagalov is the reason why their winning games. He’s due for a bad game or at least one period. Quick needs a good game for all 3 periods and we should come home with 2 points.

Wait a minute-what’s the bad decision? Giving Parse a chance over Lewis? Is that really going to make or break us? Williams is injured here, TM has to address that. ]

Plus, soft goal or not, Lewis didn’t clear the puck out of the zone which led to a Dallas tally last game. To me, that’s just good consistency in TM’s scratches for the kid to sit.

The defenseman should have cleard the puck. The pass (which was garbage) was at lewis’ skates and he didn’t even see it coming. So i think it was not lewis’ fault on that particular play.

I agree with Cricket, this move is not the difference between winning and losing tonight, lets see what the kid has….and RJB, in case you missed it, Kopitar is one goal behind Ovie and Kovi; we are in the top 10 in scoring, 4 goals behind league leading NYR, while our defense is last in the league…hitting the panic button on our offense right now makes no sense.

  14. RJB says:

Della-I am not saying that at all. No panic button here, but one line does not a team make.If We have all this great great young talent then why is it that we only clicked when aquiring Mr Smyth a vetern who only makes this team (I mean line) go. They are feeding off this guy like nobody’s business. That is the plus side. If we can get that last piece of the puzzle we will not just be a team that competes but a team that will be consistantly in the top 4-5. Im just saying.

again with the tm blasting, lets see, 6-4 so far, what, one point out of first, top scoring line (i think) in the league and the coach is an idiot for bringing up someone from our first place ahl team. Wow. Parse is leading in scoring, he deserves to get a crack up here since williams is hurt and lewis is…well… lewis. Yea, lets stop the rebuilding and trade some talent. If all we have is crappy ahl’ers then what makes you think some other team would want them. Lets get real. We can make the playoffs and potentially even more with the team we have now. Let TM do his job. He is already. The problem trying to win against Phoenix is there speed, and that has been the problem with every team they have played. Thats why they are 6-2, plus they have 2 goalies playing out of their minds right now, i doubt Phoenix will make the playoffs this year.

You can’t make the playoffs if the only line that is producing is the first line. The first line of the kings accounts for more than half the goals on the team.

  17. fsd1 says:

sorry, was not basing it just on that, i actually think we can do it, I’ve been a fan of the Kings for a long time so it is obvious I’m the eternal optimist. However, if they continue to progress at the same rate as they have from last year to this year, with a few ‘minor’ tweaks, Smyth being one of them I think we can do it. I also think that as long as the team is improving( I think they are) from day to day, week to week, etc, that TM and DL have done a good job. And I know all are entitled to their opinions, but I think that the 2nd 3rd and 4th lines will all be capable of making a contribution to the scoring with the players we currently have in the system.
