Murray postgame quotes

(on winning on the road in the first of a back-to-back set…)

MURRAY: “Yeah, in a very difficult building, against a team that has played well since the start of the year. We saw them in the first game and they showed a solid effort away from the puck. They were really skating and again, tonight, they had a lot of intensity on the puck. We got a break and we’ll take the win.’’

(on the three power-play goals…)

MURRAY: “Well, you have to capitalize in those situations if you’re going to be a team that’s going to keep moving forward. Those are situations you talk about as a group. They recognized it tonight and made it count.’’

(on Quick’s game…)

MURRAY: “Quick was much better. Thirty five [actually 33] shots on net (against), but I’m looking at maybe 10 or so from center ice. But even with that, he had a couple big stops. There was a lot of action around the net. They’ve got a big team and they’re very quick. They come at you fast. He had to be alert, and he was much better. He really regrouped and bounced back from a game that he probably wasn’t real happy with the other night.’’

(on what was said before the third period…)

MURRAY: “It’s just your fundamental stuff that you talk about. There was a couple of very technical things, tactical things, in the game that we point out. The other part of it was to get our feet moving a little bit. Want the puck, want to make plays, hold on to the puck, and that’s something that we take a lot of pride in doing. I thought that, in the middle of the season last year, we were really starting to grab that idea, and then we got away from it a little here tonight. I really liked the way that our team adjusted in several different areas of our own play here tonight. It was really encouraging to see that.’’

(on Simmonds’ play…)

MURRAY: “He’s playing very well. He has really fit in nicely there. A big body that kind of balances the line out there, too, with Kopi. I liked his effort again. He’s on the puck, he holds on, he makes plays, he’s kind of a nice complement to the style of game that those two players play.’’

(on getting some secondary scoring…)

MURRAY: “And very timely goals. Stoll’s (second) goal, those are the kind of plays that you talk about often in practices. This is the kind of stuff that we have to do in order to get maybe an ugly goal. It was a strong play.’’

Rich, great stuff. I dont know how they can take Simmonds off that line when Williams comes back. He is almost as good as Fro with puck position down low. And is there something wrong with me when I am hitting refresh on this page every 15 minutes all day. It seems like every time I do, there is something else posted. Your the man Rich, and you looked good on the tv tonight too. Hope to see more of you on the telly.

You looked a little nervous tonight but did very well. We have to take you suit shopping though.

So, do you still pinch yourself every once in a while to make sure this is real?

I don’t know about you guys, but I really like Simmonds on the first line. Also, I liked Parse’s game, he played physical and showed flashes of offensive potential… Hope he keeps it up though. When JW comes back, this is how the line-up should be:

    Smyth-Kopi-Simmonds
    JW-Handzus-Brown
    Frolov-Stoll-Parse(If he maintains his intensity)
    Ivanans-Richardson-XXX

The Kings finally have enough offensive talent that there’s going to be someone on the “third line” that “deserves” to be higher. That’s a good sign.

Parse looked real good. He had a much better feel for the game than Purcell IMO.

Khanon, I like those lines alot.

    Smyth Kopistar Simmonds
    Frolov Brown Williams
    Stoll Handzus Parse
    Ivan Richardson Harrold

as for Purcell. send him down, trade him or whatever. but i really dont think this guy belongs on the team.

I still think Willie is going to have to lose his spot on the top line. The lines khanon put down could work, but I don’t see them happening the first game that Willie is back in the line-up. The only hope would be if TM wants to ease Willie back in the line-up and forms some solid chemistry with another line.

i agree with AZ KING, i dont see JW in another line if there is no or until there is some chemistry, i mean he was doing good in the top line till his injury…but then again this a good problem for a the KINGS to have.. all this talent and just trying to figure out where and how to make it work…cant really complain about that…and hope parse stays
