Hopefully this is part of putting together a line with Purcell and Stoll that doesn’t include Lewis. Lewis needs to go back to the AHL, while last night was an okay game for him, it’s hard to believe that no one else in the organization is capable if doing more.

  2. AZ King says:

    Agreed,

Lewis has his chances, and really didn’t do much with them. I still think he was not put in the right situations last night. He’s an offensive play with good speed and good hands, that doesn’t mean he can be effective in a stopper role. So who are they going to put Parse with. I really like the Richardson-Stoll-Harrold line, but is there anyone else left a center to play with Parse?

  3. khanon says:

Why Parse? The guy is smaller than Purcell, just as soft, and innefective like purcell. Wtf DL? How about making a trade or taking a run at signing Shanahan??

  4. Sebastian says:

Does this mean JW is going to be out longer?

  5. VanKingsFan says:

Lewis looked mediocore last night, you can tell he is a rookie. He has great speed and skating ability but i found that every time he entered the zone last night he threw a weak wrister at the net. I wanted to see him use his speed to chip it past the D and then retrieve and try to create something.

I think a line with Parse – Stoll – Purcell has some real offensive potential. Purcell and Parse have played together a little bit the last couple years and Parse is racking up the points in Manchester like he did in college.
But this will only work if Purcell starts to shoot!! Anyone else scream at him last night on that 3 on 1 when he just held it, held it, held it, looking for the pass until the whole play got broken up because he took too long.

  6. Burnsie says:

Could this mean that Williams is hurt worse than they are letting on?

  7. VanKingsFan says:

Khanon: signing Shanahan would be a bad move I think, very bad move.
He is old and slow and only scored 6 goals in 34 games last year… on a good team.

Maaaaaan, Scott Parse? Come on, we’ve got to be joking, bring Moller back up or something.

  9. Ciccarelli says:

this is time to assess what Parse has. I like that they’re giving him this opportunity. Totally unexpected though.

  10. Russell says:

Unexpected but a pleasant surprise. Parse actually has a good game and is a natural LW.

  11. Quisp says:

Guys, this is a good thing. Parse has earned this chance. He’s a solid player. He is leading the AHL in assists and +/- and is second in overall scoring. He can score. He will drive to the net. And he can hit. He may or may not have “it” at the NHL level, but this is the perfect time to find out. If he doesn’t break into the line-up this year, he will probably Moulson his way somewhere else. But I’ve always had a soft-spot for him and will have my fingers crossed. (it’s not a good sign for Lewis, however.)

  12. Quisp says:

I am using Moulson as a verb.

  13. braindead says:

just because a player is unsigned (shanahan) does not mean that we can just go out an sign him. First off, Shanny does not want to play on the west coast. His family is on the east coast. Second, why in the hell would we want Shanny? Sure he “was” a great player but the speed of the league today has passed him by. Why do you think he left NJ? Please people just because you like a guy and he has had previous success does not mean (1) he wants to come here and (2) he is a good fit for this team.

On my end of the rink, I noticed poor Lewis got crushed on multiple occasions, which resulted in him lying squarely on his back. He played the Oscar role last night.

  15. Atomic Steve says:

Totally with you on this Quisp. Put Parse on LW with Stoll and Purcell at RW. Could be a pretty decent line IMO.

I swear Khanon deems players soft by the PIM alone.

Except Oscar takes checks better. I actually think he likes getting hit. He always pops back up and immediately crushes someone.

  18. BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy says:

    That’s a great verb.

Lewis Moulsoned his way onto the Maple Leafs.
Brian Boyle Moulsoned his way onto the Rangers.
If Frolov isn’t careful, he’ll Moulson his way into the KHL.

Everyone knows what you are saying–great verb!

  23. SoftDumpnChase says:

Seriously Khanon? Shanahan? I hope that was a joke.

Looks like JW will be out a little longer. What is the over under on games for JW? 65?

I am excited to see Parse and what he can bring. Maybe he can play with Stoll and Purcell and bring additional playmaking abilities to the line of 2 shooters.

  25. Sybil227 says:

Just a little taste of the NHL for Parse, I’m sure.
See what he has at this point, show him what he still needs to do, then back to the Monarchs.
This is how Dean slowly brings prospects on to the team – unless they’re so good they knock his socks off. Doubt that will be the case here, though.

    [Reply]

  26. wavesinair says:

Yeah, true. And he’s significantly smaller. The response is what counts, no doubt. But Oscar crushing? I can’t say I’ve seen that!

I know there’s been some talk, but what’s the consensus with JW vs. Simmer? I’m torn. I don’t want to see the top line change, but what a game for them last night. Man, tough decision.

    [Reply]

  27. Johnny says:

    Ciccarelli,

that rumour doesnt sound too shabby BUT Dean just signed Drewiskie on a 3yr contract. If they do pick up a D-man they gotta offload or send down a D-man. I dont see them moving Doughty,Johnson,Greene,Scuderi,O’d,Drewiskie. Maybe Harrold? but even at that he is a utility player and the boss likes him.

    [Reply]

  28. Ciccarelli says:

Ya, Johnny, it seems with that signing the top six D are set for now.

I like Parse and I’ve been waiting to see what he can do at the next level. To me Purcell is the one who should sit down. He just looks completely lost out there most nights.

  32. Johnny says:

Dean has been busy today. Signing 2 players and calling up Parse (outta nowhere) and not sending down Lewis?? No news on Williams as of yet. Is Dean in the kitchen? cause something is cooking!!!!

    [Reply]

  33. Cynic says:

This move could be looked at on a LOT of different levels:

1- Williams will be out longer than expected. I LOVE the Richardson-Stoll-HarryPotter line,, I’m kind of pulling for that to become a staple, maybe a 3rd line? If Purcell is such the playmaker, and that seems to be what he is excelling at most since he sure ain’t scoring lately, How about Parse-Purcell-Lewis? If Purcell is too weak to be at center since he’s more of a support player than a blue line rusher right now, let Lewis center them. I know Ivanans is there but I don’t want him here.

2- A replacement for Frolov if we don’t get his replacement via trade. I’m only talking replacement in terms of position, not skill folks. By playing well IN Dallas Frolovless (Used as a verb), if Parse performs well, it may be more reason for DL to deal Fro, or at least give him more comfort.

3- IIRC, we had a helluva time even signing Parse a few years back, didn’t we? He’s had injury issues, he’s finally on a line doing something and he’s producing. I think this is his contract year as well (Quisp?). Maybe this is a ‘Fish or Cut Bait’ scenario to showcase him for a trade throw in or to see if it is worth resigning him.

I don’t know why, but I get the feeling this is going to be a ‘One Shot’ callup. He doesn’t produce here, I don’t think he comes back. I think the fact he’s a LW and our lack of them in the pipeline is what has helped keep him here. I wish him all the luck and hope he goes Simmonds (Used as a verb as well) on us. ;-)

No doubt, Parse has had his ups (Hobey Baker finalist) and downs since being drafted in 04 but now appears to have it together at last, playing better than ever, the sign of a guy who has been tenacious and has really fought for it. Except Frolovely is too good, adverb-wise, to pass up. And I would go with Frolovefreely.

However, I object to any verbing of Moller to mean “being crushed by a check.” Moller knows how to take a hit, and he ain’t going to be flying up the middle with his head down like Toews.

Re Parse: yes, he signed a one year deal.

I don’t think Parse is a replacement for Frolov. He’s a sub for Williams.

He’s not a big guy, but is reportedly around 200 lbs, so he is not that tiny either.

This is a guy with the complete array—-Skating, skill, great smarts and plenty of grit.

There is a chance that a lot of fanswill be
    leasantly surprised.

I’m expecting him to be pretty good, actually.

I will be very, VERY surprised if he sucks.

  67. Sergei Prozacutov says:

In the best-case scenario, Scott Parse will
make Frolov entirely expendable, by being a solid, consistent, 2-way player, capable of playing on the PK and getting around 50-pts per year, with a good +/-.

  68. KING DUDE says:

This makes no sense if he is gonna be on the 3rd or 4th line. If he is on the top 2 then ok, but once he gets pushed off the puck for being soft I am gonna loose it. We already have had enough of those guys in the organization the last 10 yrs. As for Williams he is a BIG FAT PILE OF STEAMY MANURE. This guy is soft and has only played 2 full seasons in his 10 yrs. being a pro. Keep the lines how they were last night they looked good. And where the heck is Clune? Ivanans is slow, misses his checks, and can barely keep his balance.
