Here’s what Davis Drewiske had to say today about his new three-year, $1.8-million contract extension. Drewiske has a team-best plus-6 rating, one goal, two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 10 games.
DREWISKE: “Yeah, I’m excited. I think it’s a great organization, and it’s going to be a great place to be in the years to come here. I think we’re going to win a lot of games and I’m excited about being here.”
Question: What does it mean for you, in terms of security?
DREWISKE: “For me, it’s a good thing to have. I’m just going to try to continue to improve and fill whatever role the team needs me to play.”
Question: Have they given you feedback, in terms of your play? Do you think this is an indication of them being happy with you?
DREWISKE: “I would think so. I just think I’ll continue to play solid and try not to get scored on, play good defense and be simple and effective, play that role the best I can.”
Question: Is the comfort level higher, when you start a season here?
DREWISKE: “I think so. That was a good experience I had last year, getting to know everybody and getting to play with a lot of different guys. That gave me a lot of confidence coming into camp. I don’t think I had the greatest training camp, but I’ve settled in here since the start of the season, just trying to be reliable and simple.”
Congratulations to Drewiske. While it was hard to see Quicy go, the play of Drewiske last year, along with the other young Defensemen in the organization, is why the Kings now have Smyth on the team.

I like this kid as well. Of course, mot everybody is an all-star, but you need to have good role players like Drewiske. By next year, he’ll be better than Scuderi, who, by the way, isn’t as good as I expected. Congrats DD2, well deserved.

Now stop with the hooking penalties

He’s been the best defensemen on the team. Goals allowed at even strength.
Johnson 13
Scuderi 11
Doughty 5
O’Donnell 4
Greene 2
Drewiske 0
Pretty amazing for a 600K player. The flashy guys get all the press, meanwhile, Drewiske and Greene get the job done. Johnson and Scuderi and are defensive disaster together.
