Didn’t get to see it, but saw the result. After all the comments and back and forth today about Frolov and the last three games, it feels good to get a win. Go Kings, get home safe. *exhale*

3 and 3 on the longest trip of the year. Not bad. Not amazingly good, but it is acceptable. Wish I could watch Thurs live but I will be recording (going to an ECHL game here in Vegas against a long time rival Alaska, man I hate Golbrath). I watch as soon as I get home tho. Well time 4 Heroes so I’ll read the reactions later.

    gmo,

same here fire Murray. This win was not about Murray. This win was about Smyth and Kopi being HOT right now…Once that goes away, what do u have as far as a team goes?

gmo imo he do the job. He met the boys saturday night after the Colombus game and guys answer with a big game the next game. When guys still listen to the coach and they stick to the game plan(and it work) that’s a good message to others team right there.

well hope the boys build on this win today and keep playing good..hope FRO turns it around for his own good and jsut prove coaches and ppl wrong..i still think if the KINGS are going to stay competitive and stay up top they need more than one line to bring it on night in and night out…cant be expecting your first line to be winning you every game…

These guys saying the coach should be fired are the same guys that would say the exact same thing a year into the next coaches contract. The three loses in a row weren’t on coaching. What is going on with Frolov is not a coaching problem it is Frolov’s problem. Man I see it in every sports everyone ants the coach fired without really looking at the situation. TM turned the defense around 180 degrees last season. This team still has a problem with trying to change the attitude of the players that have been there, Frolov is a big example of that. I am not sure TM will be the guy that really takes the team all the way as they continue to get better, but to me he is the right coach for this team right now.

I agree with you gmo for the offense tho. I think they ask too much to Stoll. I think he’s a great 3rd liner but not a good player to feed his linemates.

Personnally I’m dreaming of Mikko Koivu as a second line center. But that’s a dream tho hehe.

  20. BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy says:

Boys, one thing we agree on is that THAT was a much-needed win!

    This ship hasn’t sunk yet.

We’ll see how they do at home. Remember last year, when the Kings had all the early home games yet were UNDER .500?

    This year:

    Home: 2-1
    Away: 3-3

    That’ll do, for now.

and white_jack i totally agree with you, tm might have met with players after the cbj game, they came out and played a good game, beat a depleted dallas team but is that a result from that? is really hard to say…im jsut happy we got 2 points and hope this trend continues… i jsut personally dont think TM is the right coach thou for the team..again we could do and be a lot better with a different coach…

    Hey gmo,

I’m perfectly well informed and have read all the threads this evening. Regardless of tonights outcome, I still disagree with people that want to lay all our fortunes (good or bad) solely at TM’s feet. I just find it interesting that the comments come up even on a post where there should be something positive to talk about.

wait a minute…you said in your first post on this thread that you still want TM fired and then the post right after WWAMD agreed with you and said fire TM. I’m pretty sure that’s what Meg was referring to. Seems pretty informed to me.

  31. gmo says:

oh trust me im all pumped and POSITIVE and as i said, i want this to continue **want fro to just come out next game on fire adn stay that way through out the season**regardless of all that i just have my issues with TM but thats just me in my humble opinion..im like every other kings fan. i want them to win and be on top simple as that

    [Reply]

  32. WWAMD says:

Good job boys. Way to work with what you got.

Here is Y Murray should still be fired:

Not playing Frolov 2nite. Stupid mistake. Do not give people like Ivanans promotions when he’s been a problem with the Kings for years.
Williams on the point during the PP…Whats up with that?
Not doing anything to spark the 2nd line
Otherwise, he’s ok. He’s done well on the PK, I’ll give him that

Reason why I dislike DL and TM is that it personal with them. They get to personal with players. Not a good healthy relationship sorry.

    Go Kings!

ive said it time adn time again RJC76…that i dotn think tm is the right coach so yea he should be fired…ive said before that if the team doesnt peform dl should shake things up and do a coach change..and not wait till we are down and out….yea the team just won a game but im not saying fire the coach for the sake of it..this has beeen my position since the beginning of the year and it hasnt change..for obvious reasons…

    WWAMD,
Hopefully you ate your words tonite. Everything you predicted was dead wrong.

Maybe we will go on another win streak and you and your negativity will go away for a while, seems like when we are winning you are non-existent…… Typical doom and gloom guy, only around when things are down.

  35. WWAMD says:

    4thliner….trust me I’m extremely happy I was wrong 2nite!

I hope we do go on a winning streak. However, I still believe Murray should go. Its sooooooooo young in the season and he’s already disturbed the locker room. Hopefully there is a method to his madness and Frolov “becomes” this player Murray wants. Murray kinda reminds me of Mr. Burns in that episode where he keeps telling a baseball player to shave his sideburns, and the player finally just shaves his whole head and sideburns and Mr. Burns still says shave those sideburns.

    Go Kings!

  36. DavHalt says:

Benching Frolov tonight was NOT about giving Ivanans a “promotion”, it was about not playing him in an important game, against a division rival and trying to break a losing streak. TM is saying ‘you’ve been stinking it up so bad, you aren’t playing in one of the biggest games this season’. And Fro’s reaction during’s Rich’s interview? “Meh, oh well”. I have been a big supporter of Frolov since he came on board, but if the Kings put a 4-1 win without him against a division rival at the end of the longest road trip of the season? Move him and get some more character, grit or, God forbid, second line scoring.

  37. PaulCat1969 says:

    WWAMD,

No comment on WIlliams play. Thought he showed a lot of grit tonight with a real knack for the net. 3 Goals in 9 games with 9 points is a nice start. Hopefully you can admit it.

WOW, RYAN SMYTH IS A MACHINE!

i think we won this because our checking side of the game.

seperate the man from the puck creates space- more space more speed, more plays, cause the opposition to become tired.

The checking side of the game, something we had NOTHING of in the first 8 games

    WWmad you were not wrong.

The boys put up a great effort tonite gainst an average(sub) team that was severly depleted.

I still liked the way they played though especially Williams. Best game all year and he is sick to boot.

Anyone who thinks we are better without Fro on the top 2 lines is out of there minds!

as you know, people have their stock routines and they dust them off with the slightest provocation. I sometimes wish (some) people would just type up their default rant and post it at the bottom of every comment, like a signature. People like to have their whipping boys / scapegoats / whatever label you want to put on it. It’s easier than thinking. It’s Murray, it’s Lombardi, it’s Ivanans, it’s Calder, it’s Gauthier, it’s Preissing, it’s LaBarbera, it’s Stoll.

    Well. It is Stoll.

    No, I kid.

Some of the reactions to Murray are like my five year old’s reaction to me when I won’t, for example, make Target have more of the Lego X-Wing Fighters that they are sold out of. He kicks and screams because he knows it’s my fault and if I wanted to I could give him what he wants.

    You’re kidding, right?
Kopi and Smyth are the two highest paid players on the team and they are a center and a winger. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that they’ll play together.

Better try and explain why the 2nd & 3rd lines are NOT

Brown Stoll Simmonds (a natural hard checking group)

    And

Williams Handzus Purcell (speed skill and backchecking)

Our 4th line of Lewis Richardson Harrold was one of the best lines in Detroit and NY, even though Harrold should be on defense (Scuderi does not impress) and Moller replaces him.

  45. DellaNooch says:

Fro had 4 goals through the first 8 games on the same line he’s on now, this year he has 1, does that mean Simmonds and Handzus are not as good this year? That’s definitely not the case.

The same people lobbying for Fro to be on the top line should realize he was unable to have the chemistry with Kopi that Smyth and Williams now have, thus he should not be on that line. Putting him with Stoll’s line isn’t an improvement…and furthermore, with Kopi’s line drawing the toughest defenders, it should only help Fro, but it hasn’t. Fro is still on the powerplay, where we can all agree he is deadly, but he’s still not putting up numbers…I can’t see how this is the coaches fault…I just see a plain ole lack of effort, no fire in Fro so far this season….let’s hope sitting a game out will get him going.

We needed this win in the worst way.
Great job by all of the guys…we were rolling 4 lines consistently and all 4 lines played well.
Shout out to Matt Greene on D. He played his best game of the year. He was involved on both ends of the ice.
Big performance by Quick as well. He made some big saves in big spots. A lot of posts, but that’s part of his equipment.
Huge game by Williams. He showed what he can do tonight. I’m sure some people failed to notice that or just would rather not admit how good he looked.

I love this blog and the people who comment on it. I start my morning with a chuckle when I’m reading how its all TM’s fault. It sure as hell can’t be the players fault. I recall seeing in the Columbus game Murray make that putrid giveaway that turned into the 1st goal. That wasn’t Frolov..It was Murray. I don’t know how we all missed that.
How can anyone give credit to Murray for putting WIlliams/Kopi/Smythe together? It was so obvious. As I recall over the summer, there was no debate about that at all. Any idiot could have come up with that combo…I’m being facetious of course.
These same people who hate Murray also couldn’t stand Crawford…Unless they’re named the head coach (or Larionov), they’ll never be happy. We could win a cup and some of these people will say…yeah, but if they had a different coach, they would have swept instead of winning in 5.
I guess that’s what makes the world go around.

HAHAHA!! You really think coaches decide who plays on what line by how much each guy gets paid, as long as they play a different position?? Oh that’s the funniest thing I have ever heard!! So tell me cristobal, why don’t Datsyuk and Zetterberg play on the same line? Gaborik & Drury? Lecavailier & St Lous?

Coaches look for players who form chemistry together in practice and they try them out in a game, hoping they click. Frolov had more than enough chances last year on Kopitar’s line and did nothing to earn a permanent spot. To think that coaches just look at a peice of paper and say “well these two guys make the most money, I better play them together” is just ridiculous.

We need to get rid of Frolov now before his bad attitude rubs off on some of the younger kids in the locker room and they all have the same “losing is ok” attitude like he does…
