In addition to Quick going in for Ersberg, Terry Murray said he’s contemplating another lineup change but hadn’t yet talked to the players about it. Almost certainly, you’d be looking at Trevor Lewis going in for Raitis Ivanans, but we’ll see in a few hours…
In the wake of that horrible penalty (which I never actually saw, was it after the whistle?) and playing a grand total of just 5 minutes and 18 seconds, it’s time to sit Ivan.

BRING BACK WESTY
[Reply]
considering that Detroit doesn’t have an enforcer, it makes sense to take Ivanans out and put in a more skilled player.
[Reply]
i hope you’re right, because with the ups and down our PK has had, we don’t need Ivanans taking bad penalties in a game where he probably won’t need to fight.
[Reply]
Is it just me or does anyone else get nervous when Sean O gets in a scrap and runs the risk of an injury when we pay Ivan to do this?
[Reply]
Sean can take care of himself. It actually helps more than hurts because Sean fights slightly more skilled players that would never ever drop the gloves with Ivanans
[Reply]
Thank god, about Ivanans being out of the lineup. There’s no reason to ever play him unless Brashear, Laraque, Shelley, etc. will be in the lineup against us.
[Reply]
Well, they did recently sign Brad May but O’D can stand toe-to-toe with him. I like the idea of Lewis playing over Ivanans against detroit. Could be an interesting line: Richardson/Lewis/Harrold. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them get on the scoreboard.
[Reply]
I’m not sure he would be considered an enforcer but the Wings have Brad May on their roster…..

Question for all. Is it just me or is Justin Williams appear to be Squeezing the stick a little. I mean granted the first line is playing great, but Williams to me seems a little out of place or a step behind. He is faning a lot of his passes. I’m not suggesting to get rid of him or drop to the 4th line for the monster Ratis or anything just was wondering the thoughts of others?
[Reply]
“I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them get on the scoreboard.” Exactly. On that note, why would you not want a line like that out there every game. The need of an enforcer is an antiquated notion.
[Reply]
Ivanans has been an anchor on that line. A boat anchor.

Milton,
Check out our recent past when our star players like Palffy got run on a nightly basis to see why we need an enforcer. Though, I admit that Ivanans should be the 13th forward on most nights and only touch the ice when needed to police.

I mentioned williams being a step behind last week, and honestly i thought id give him the benefit of the doubt, but still im very dissapointed. I thought he was fast but he looks confused out there for the most part, as long as he keeps getting points on the board, i wouldnt move him… i hate losing to detroit, so lets hope we bring it tonight… GO KINGS
[Reply]
Trevor Lewis is the right decision. ohh and calling up Rich Clune
[Reply]
Murray answered my question,it seemed like a no brainer but you never know with the coach.I would love to see this line play a couple games together.Lets Go Kings!

“On that note, why would you not want a line like that out there every game”
Personally, I would definitely opt for a skilled fourth line. However, under TM, it will NEVER happen.
[Reply]
Drop Williams to the 2nd line and put Brown on the 1st line. The PK needs to figure it out. They look so out of sink it is disgusting. I agree that Ivanans needs to sit and bring up Clune. He can skate and can actually fight. Turn the page tonight boys and beat the Wings!

[...] at Trevor Lewis going in for Raitis Ivanans, but we’ll see in a few hours…" Lineup change? LA Kings Insider please make the change [...]
I don’t mind seeing Ivanans in the lineup but he should be disciplined from time to time for taking needless penalties. I can tolerate an occasional penalty for being overly aggressive, but his penalties always seem to be for hooking or holding.
[Reply]
I wouldn’t touch ANY of the lines besides the 4th one and sit Ivanans.
The first line is scoring, second line is scoring (not as much but they’re doing the job), the third line isn’t getting scored against…have they had an even strength goal against yet?
Everyone is doing their jobs. Lets not throw our skirts over our heads and run screaming into the thoroughfare after one loss here guys.

Is Quick the official number 1? If not he should be. I know it’s early, but I think we win that one if Quick is in.— We looked a tad sluggish on the 50-50 pucks, kinda reminded me of the first game. Keep them legs churning, move, move, move, eh.
[Reply]
I second Dan H w/ don’t change anything except 4. Williams will come around.
[Reply]
Yes please.
[Reply]
For all you who think Williams should be moved to the second line in favor of Brown…you do realize defense is a big part of Hockey. Williams defensive play is outstanding and allows his linemates to do just about anything they want in the offensive zone becasue they know he is defensively responsible.
For anyone who has actually played the game, this makes all the difference and Brown for all his physical play is not that responsible on the defensive side.
Keep the first 3 lines the same at least for the first 20 games.
[Reply]
The Clune thing is laughable at best at this point. They send him to Manchester to get some games in. Manchester plays back to back games and he can’t suit up for the second one. I think it’s a LITTLE premature.
As for Brad May… he’s looking to hang onto a roster spot, and I doubt he’d be showing Babcock his need to take unnecessary penalties coming off the pasting they took from Buffalo.

[...] no real use against the Detroit Red Wings. This is what Rich Hammond thinks could happen as well (linked here), as he posted “Terry Murray said he’s contemplating another lineup change but hadn’t yet [...]
I like Raitis, but I have to admit that that was a bad penalty he took last night. Putting in Trevor against a more finesse team is probably a good decision if in fact that is the change to be made. I wonder if moving Simmonds to the second line and putting Brown with Frolov and Handzus might help both lines? Brown can crash the net and look for rebounds off of Fro’s shots and Simmonds can hopefully mesh with Stoll and Purcel while not losing that much grit on that line.
[Reply]
Even with Ivanans out, Kings still have the top enforcer of both teams with Simmonds

BRING UP FLYNN!!
(Couldn’t Resist)
I agree with the guys who said don’t change the first 3 lines. They are all doing what they are supposed to do. Williams is just not as flashy as Kopi and Smyth. He’s picking it up. His D- gets unnoticed as previously mentioned.
I’d like to see what Richardson-Lewis-Harrold could do. Lot of speed and the way Richie has been forechecking and stealing pucks, a goal should be in their future tonight. We simply don’t need an enforcer tonight.
…and I’d LOVE to see Brad May and O’Donnell go at it! THAT would be fireworks!
