I’m jealous! Nothing is better than a meal at a great restaurant in Manhattan! ENJOY!!

Rich
Enjoy a night out in the city.
I don’t know if you’re allowed to give out this info, but did the Kings stay at the Marriot next to the Coliseum?
Also wondering what practice rink the Kings had to go in full gear. That must have been a sight!
[Reply]
Rich have a good dinner, you’ve earned it. I’d be curious to hear where/what you all eat, NY is such a great town for a meal!
[Reply]
Rich, I just wanted to pass along a job very well done to you. I have been waiting for years to get the coverage of the Kings that we now enjoy because of your new position and wanted to just say thanks for doing what you do!
[Reply]
Man, Can’t enough of watching the Kings win. Just checked ESPN’s standings and the Kings are #1 overall in the West. When was the last time that’s happened?

Here’s a little factoid, the article at this link says that the win over the Islanders was the Kings 1300th in its history in the NHL — so now it’s on to #1301! Go Kings!
[Reply]
So far so good! Man, I am pleasantly surprised with how well they are doing. Keep it up, boys!
[Reply]
For those that love the Kings like me will love this angle. http://www.socaljoecal.com
[Reply]
OMG! I was watching the channel 7 news here in LA, and the sports guy actually mentioned the Kings!!! Of course, he misprounounced Coughty’s name and apparently he thinks Quick’s fist name is Jamie, but they were actuall on both the 5 and 6o’clock news!!! Way to go Kings!
[Reply]
man what i would do to run into the taem today… and what a dump Nassau is…
see ya’ on Wednesday Rich…i think i’ll rock the home Kopi jersey for the Ranger’s game..
[Reply]
Rich,
Would like to know what you think of the trip so far as how you like the road? and the hotels the food ect.
[Reply]
Well, it took until the 3rd period in the Flames game. The Kings just placed top of west on nhl.com. Now if Chicago can finish this comeback in regulation it will stay that way.
[Reply]
Blackhawks win but Flames still get a point
[Reply]
Ersberg get us the win and put us back in first!!!
[Reply]
and the Hawks win….but in OT…but still
[Reply]
Darn. Flames get one point. Was great to be on top for a bit tho. And Sharks cant knock us out of top of division as they will have played 1 game more. Still, cheering for Phoenix tonight. Took a picture of the screen and printed the standings when it was there.
[Reply]
Rich,
Still would be interested to read comments from opposing team after game.
[Reply]
dman…I’d always like to. It’s easier for home games — and I think I threw in one after the Minnesota game — because the PR staff hands out quote sheets from the other team. On the road, there’s only 30 minutes from final horn until the bus leaves, so I really have to hurry downstairs, talk to the Kings and get on the bus. I appreciate the reminder though, and I will remember to do what I can to get opposing-team quotes.
[Reply]
Good luck to the Iceberg on Wednesday …The Kings in first place? Is this real? There is no spoon.
[Reply]
Wow, only 30 minutes to remove gear, shower, interview and get on the bus. That doesn’t seem like a lot of time. Thanks for the tidbit Rich.

Kings getting national recognition:
http://espn.go.com/nhl/powerranking?week=3&season=2010
Kings 3rd in ESPN’s weekly power rankings. The suckish effort against the ‘Yotes and the choke job against the Sharks are but distant memories now.
By the way, Ducks are 12th. Let’s claim SoCal supremacy!
[Reply]
Kevin Y: It’s only a choke job if you lose. If you win, it’s a “momentary lapse.” =)
[Reply]
2nd place?
2ND PLACE?!?!
Excuse me, but Rob Scuderi did not come here to finish in 2nd place.

rich…
keep up the great work…!
did kopi really say “brain fart”…?…winning makes it easier to unwind and not constantly explain why yr not doing things well over and over again…to yr coaches…to the media…to yr family…to yr friends…
winning makes the daily grind much easier…and enjoyable…and if anything can be said about kopi is that he’s responding to start this season with a huge bit of exhaling which has enabled him to inhale goalies for goals and points…in other words…: he’s cool, calm and collected…
you couple that with the trust/chemistry he has developed with smyth…and is 100 points out of the question…?…perhaps, but jw needs to find his comfort zone and you can tell that jw is lacking breakaway speed right now…he’s still fast…but it seems like he hasn’t been able to put it into a higher gear…jw has been physical, though, and has assisted in creating passing lanes between the others that lead to chances/goals…if he can pick up his speed and shot accuracy…kopi is a lock for 100 for the first time in his career…
that number one center question and doubt before the season started by many…including me…is becoming a stain in the archives of inside the kings…i guess that’s where it belongs…let’s hope kopi keeps it up and continues to build confidence…
…and stay far away from any “brain farts”…!
[Reply]
Rich,
Now that we have some additional insight into the time constraints you are under, it’s fully understandable.
Keep up the great work – you’re making many fans here very happy!
[Reply]
The last time our Kings were first place in the Western Conference was two years ago. They beat the Ducks opening day in London England.
Go Kings!
[Reply]
Ryan Smyth is the most valuable addition to the Kings lineup in several years. If he stays healthy Kopitar scores at least 30 goals this year. His example of hustle and down low play has already rubbed off on the younger players.
The Kings no longer skate to the blue line and dump the puck on every attack. They are forcing the defense to keep backing in while they make moves and/or passes keeping possession of the puck.
As for the play of the second and third lines, my take is that the third line will score more than the second. Frolov, Simmonds, and Handzus will get better as the season progresses. Frolov is a bull on the puck, Simmonds is playing with tons of confidence, and Handzus will be the rock in the middle. I hope all the rumors about trading Frolov die off as this line kicks butt.

Sharks lose, but also get a point
[Reply]
Rich,
Do you know how many teams are up against the 56.8 million salary cap? Where are the Kings at right now?
Thanks, Ed
[Reply]
Hey Rich,
I’m glad to see you working for the Kings. Keep up the good work.
I was at the season opener against the Coyotes and that definitely was a game to forget. But, I won’t forget a conversation I had with a guy in line to get a hot dog. He told me that he went to a LA Kings’ event where Peter Harrold attended. He told me that Peter told him about the stuff in the locker room stuff like Marc Crawford and about Cammaleri but he said something really interesting about Terry Murray which is why I still think this is a great hire and why he’s perfect for this team. The guy said, “When Marc would get mad, he’d scream and yell at his players, and in return they tuned out. But, when Terry gets mad, he holds a really calm demeanor throughout which really gets to the players.” Terry seems to keep his cool with such a young team and that’s exactly what you want from your head coach. Congrats Kings and keep it up.
[Reply]
@dMan…after driving to Long Island for the game 30 minutes is faaar to long. If I were a player i’d go straight from the ice to the bus. wearing skates.

Just heard on Hockey This Morning on NHL Radio that Bob Miller and I think Jim Fox (wasn’t sure as I only caught the end of the advert) will be in studio guests on NHL Live this morning. The show airs on the NHL Network on TV at 9am Pacific (Noon Eastern) with a replay at 1pm Pacific. The 9am Pacific broadcast is a simulcast with XM Radio on channel 204 if you have XM.

And btw, I hate to put a damper on things, but it’s only 5 games folks. Watching the standings isn’t really useful right now. Talk to me in March after the Olympics and we’ll see where the Kings are in the standings.
[Reply]
Paul
If we had 1 win and were at the bottom of the standings instead of the top, people would be pointing that out and making a big deal about it…including calling for the coach and GM’s heads.
We all live and die with our Kings so the fact that they’re in 1st place IS something to be excited about.

I finally got around to watching the game last night since i was stuck at work in the morning. Kopitar is deffinitely on top of his game. I would be great to see Brown get a goal or two on this road trip, and WOW, that goal Doughty scored was almost as nice as the one he got on Frozen Fury. Very nice assist by Stoll on that goal. Hope we can play solid against the Rangers, they are looking great this year.
